My main reason for this workout was to increase muscle mass to burn more sugar.  My metabolism is so screwy - I eat 1100 - 1500 calories of low carb, fresh, unprocessed food a day, (mostly organic because we grow or raise it), I run/walk 2 to 4 miles a day and work 45 minutes to an hour on the woodpile with a pulse rate between 120 and 160.  My bloodsugar is in ok control (could be better) and my weight does not go down.  If I increase my food intake even a little or miss any exercise, my bloodsugar and weight go nuts.  I hate having to be in such tight control but the results are better than the alternative.

Stuck at 188...  :P

I'm 10lbs. down from where I started, 4 more needed to beat Carlos. ;)

Need an additional 4lbs. past that to hit my goal.

All these Maple Bacon Muffins with maple cream cheese frosting, bowls of risotto, and slabs of pork tenderloin have got to stop jumping onto my plate.  [cheeky]

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

Just remember I had thought that I was 195lbs ... When the reality was 200lbs so that meant and extra 5lbs for me to go down ... still have untill August 31st to get to 185lbs ...that was my original goal ... ;D

If you are truly not losing on 1100-1500 calories/day, you need to get your thryoid checked.

If thyroid is fine than the other issue could be chronic dieting. If you've been dieting for a long period of time you may very well have crashed your metabolism and need a good couple weeks of high calories and carbs to elevate  brain chemicals (ie. leptin, ghrelin) to up regulate metabolism.

Thyroid is fine and I'm not sure that chronic dieting is the issue but I will look into it.  I really don't have any fatigue issues - I walk/jog 2-4 miles per day and saw and split logs for nearly an hour a day with no lasting tiredness.

what's your bodyweight?...... if you don't mind me asking.

If thyroid is fine and dieting hasn't killed metabolism, there is really no other reason metabolism should be that low.

A person with a good metabolism should be able to lose fat at a caloric intake of 12 x bodyweight. A slower, but still normal metabolism usually requires dropping to 10 x bodyweight and a really, really sluggish metabolism might need to drop to as low as  8 x bodyweight to lose fat. If you have to drop to below 8 x bodyweight to lose fat, something is significantly wrong and needs to be fixed.

So, assuming you have a really sluggish, but still "ok" metabolism, and you have to drop calories to between 1100 and 1500 calories to lose fat, you must weigh somewhere in the 150 lb range

6 years ago, I was 285.  As of last fall, I had gradually went down to 222 and have now went back up to about 235.  I am also 14 months shy of a half century old.  There is certainly something wrong with my metabolism and the way my body utilizes and releases blood sugar.  The doc just wants to push pills on me without understanding the issues.  I have been considering going to Mayo to see if I can find someone that has a handle on this.  Its pissing me off.

The phone hadn't been found yet...

But it is now!  Someone found it in the parking structure at work and turned it in to Security!  [clap]

You're right about the cupcakes, though... ;)

I think that's definitely a good idea.

and congratulations on the weight loss. Dropping over 50 lbs. and maintaining it for  decent amount of time, is no easy feat.
