Welllll.....  I was NOT 'exhilarated' as a friend said I would be.  (My endorphins must be lazy too.)

Overall it was ok. Not looking forward to another that I committed to that's coming up.  Will be happy to spend more time with the 575 and not wearing a Speedo onesy.   [thumbsup]

There was a Jack LaLanne type gentleman competing yesterday.
Wearing just a....brief (?) dating back several decades. More
fabric than a speedo but still not enough.  At least he was in very
nice shape for his age.

And there was an 84 y/o woman in a very faded American flag type
"onesey" - circa 1976ish.  She wore it well and beat quite a few
of the "youngins'".

To both of them:     [bow_down] [bow_down]  [thumbsup]

so the payoff for losing all the weight....

i am cleaning out 4 years worth of accumulation and came across a few pairs of riding pants that i stopped wearing because they didn't fit.
not only do they fit now, but on 2 of them i had to pull the cinches in on the waist. [thumbsup]

now if i can just get buffi can walk around with my shirt off.

yes, but usually they are looking away because they are being blinded.

As some of you know, I quit smoking a little over a year and a half ago.
On the 'It's a good idea, I'll live longer and I'll feel better' philosophy.

Well, I've lived longer.  [roll]
But I don't really feel better.  :P

Decided to let the doctors have a go, and went in for a checkup.
After the interrogation, listening, wiretapping, poking, probing, and bleeding, they pronounced that nothing was wrong.
"Keep doing what you're doing".
Great, I really want to keep feeling like a wet dishrag.

Squeezing the doc a bit harder yielded a squeak about regular exercise being a good idea.
"Do something you like".

OK, I can work with that.
Thought about it a bit.

I can throw a rock from my shop to the local health club.
But for me, those have been little more than a drain on the checkbook.

Running is cheap, and I can do it anywhere.
But I absolutely hate running.

Revved up the wayback machine, back to when I was in the best shape ever.
Back in college.
Riding a bicycle a lot.
Bingo!

Went to the local bike shop and picked up this Giant Rapid 3.
I was hoping I could get a bike with more logos, but this was the best they had.  [laugh]

Spent some time switching the brakes so the right hand lever is for the front.
Replacing the seat (which seemed anatomically correct for a 10 year old) with an adult model.
Adding a water bottle, seat bag for an innertube, and a pump.
That way I can get the upper body workout when changing flats.
Oddly, most of the reflectors fell off.
As did all of the 'safety' labels.

I've taken it for a short spin, and it's really quite nice.
I'd forgotten how quick a good road bike is.

And rejoined the world where ATGATT is spandex for the body and a styrofoam cup for my head.  :-\

Nice bike Speed, those flimsy reflectors ... always falling off, from motorcycles and bicycles  same as with the safety stickers, how can they be safe if they fall off?

Enjoy riding it !!!
