You got a good deal.  Not to mention the dollar has drop quite a bit in the past 6-9 months.   [bang]
The 696 was supposed to start at somewhere around $8400 (i think), but before the release the price went a up a bit.
I have no idea what you are talking about....

We're lucky the prices haven't gone up a lot higher. The way the dollar has fallen against the euro over the last few years, Ducati is giving us a real bargain on the current MSRP. I paid something like $8200 for a 750 in '02, back when the dollar was about even with the euro. Now the Euro is up 50%. An even increase would put the 696 (equal value to the old 750, ,give or take) at above $12,000!  :o

~1500 for freight and setup is another story. :-\

I have a feeling that the economy will make a turn for the better once things in the government... um... change............. :-X

The honolulu place says the MSRP is $8775 on their website.  I too had called to ask their out-the-door price and was told $10,600.  We only have a sales tax of 4.137-ish %, which would be about $363 added to the $8775 = $9138.  So where does the additional $1462 come from?  ???

I know the SA has to earn a living, but isn't his/her commission already factored into the MSRP price?

I am not too keen on that dealership anyway, don't know if I would want to give them my business, although in Hawaii it is our only choice.  Called them 4 different times for parts, washer for oil pressure sensor, bulb for license plate, screws for tank latch, and split rings for closing shims.  Each time they said they did not have the item is stock, take 2 weeks.    Not stocking some items I understand, but how the hell do they not have split rings for closing shims if they are a Ducati dealer?   >:(   How can they do required maintenance?

South Seas said that their msrp was $8995 + this + that and + $150 to get it to me here in maui... i may just super fairy it.
i work w/ a kid whos father is the service manager @ SoCal Ducati and their sales manager Mark was going to see what he could do for me..
put it this way if i still lived in So.Cal i would get hooked up, but since he had to ship to maui it wouldnt make much of a difference.
shipping factor was about $600... he also said that $10.5 was a fair price, and thats what their "out the door" price was coming to (more or less)...
anyone in So.Cal that wants a bike, PM me and i will see what i could do...  [thumbsup]

What dealer did you speak with and did they have inventory available?

$1000 freight? That's about $800 more then they are charged.

Ducati dealers in the Pacific NW, other than a few, think they can pull off hundreds of dollars for freight/set up.  Overall not a horrible deal, but they can do better.  I won't say what dealer it is out of respect as the GM is a great guy, so call around the NW dealers if you want to buy a 696 sitting on the floor with no deposit attached to it.  It is a big dealer

I just went through this when looking for a new bike recently. I actually became quite disgusted over the whole thing and bought a Yamaha. I would have saved about $2,000 if I bought a R/T ticket to Kentucky, bought a bike there, and had it shipped back to me, even after paying for airfare and cross country shipping cost.

SolidSnake3035

I got quoted about $10,4 for a completely standard 696.

Do you guys think I should try to get some carbon out of the deal?  I was thinking I could tell them to put on the CF Termignonis and the CF heat guard for the exhaust pipe and they have a deal.  Does this seem reasonable?  Maybe I'll say for $11k?
