i have the info somewhere but i think of was a frame chop and an old style race seat.  the stock frame is kind of wide there...

Yeah, I'm looking for a seat like that, most of the vintage style race seats I've found have too sharp of an angle where the seat pan meets the bubble, I want one rounded like this one, the number plate extrusion is cool but not crucial.  This would be going on a 748 mono sub frame which may be a bit narrower (9.5").

Alright, I found some info on it, built by Union Motorcycle Classics, tail is a one-off from Glass from the Past, probably isn't an option for me but at least I came to the end of the research.

How about this seat from Airtech?  Will need some modification.

I like the look of that one but it narrows so close to the front which would be trimmed back a bit, it's an option, I've been looking at the universal cafe tail from them, seems like it would work I just would like it more rounded where the pan meets the bubble, maybe I could build that up a bit.

Unfortunately they have the best selection just not the best quality.

Be prepared to fill lots of voids in the part, mostly on edges. that are hidden/bridged by gel-coat.

I did a tail for a customer that was totally different shape from one side to the other.

If you don't mind the re-work it's fine.

I haven't seen a lot of alternatives, there are some other manufacturer's but they only make ~5-10 tails, I'm not sold on the shape of that air-tech piece so I will continue to look.

Here's my interpretation of a cafe seat I realise purists wont approve because it's not a single seat but she who must be obeyed likes to go for a spin occasionally so that wasn't an option

im in the same boat with my wife. I opted for this;

its a stock seat with material added to the front and removed from the back (of the riders portion) to give a flatter section. the passenger area has been cut down about 2" (so the rider has more room to slide back, something I found myself doing often) and then rounded out with about 2.5" of padding.  the result is a "cafe" profile with passenger capabilities. of course the passenger sits much higher which can be awkward but for how little that happens its acceptable to me.
