Ah, finally time for a vacation! Me and the girlfriend are spending the weekend in Chicago.  Personally, I have never been there....she spent 4 years there in optometry school.  I know there are some people on this board that are from Chicago and also like to get into some trouble  [evil].  Well, besides getting some pizza, what should we do?

She spent four years there and doesn't know?  :P

Get some ribs.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I grew up 90 miles from chicago and my brother lived in Wrigleyville for 3 years.

A few questions:

1. How are you getting there?
2. Where are you staying?
3. What are you looking to spend?
4. Awful time of year as Chicago is cold as make the beast with two backs (or can be) this time of year.

I can help you out.

Shedd Aquarium for one. Lots of cool stuff in that same general area.

Just went there this summer.  We really liked Buddy Guy's Blues Bar- had great food and awesome live music the whole time we were there.

The Aquarium and Natural History Museum are super cool too.

Go to the Great lakes Naval training center and laugh at all the recruits. Tell them that you're having a real good time visiting Chicago and it's too bad they are stuck in there. [evil]

I'd got to the Sears Tower (it has some new name now, can't think of it) and check out the new viewing area.

We missed the opening by a week on our last visit.

However, only a good thing to do if the weather is clear.

go early. Lines get long with school field trips.

A must is the Chicago Art Institute. I think it is the best one in the US and probably one of the best in the world based on the amount of famous artists and works that hang on the walls (obviously doesn't compare to the Lourve but still a damn fine collection).

Corner Bakery is a great place for breakfast. They are on practically every corner.

Thanks for the ideas!  We are staying with one of her friends from school, which is nice since it's free  ;D  I'm from Pittsburgh, so the cold shouldn't be too much of a shock.

To answer a few of Cyrus' questions: We are flying (southwest) tomorrow night, returning monday afternoon.  I'll have to ask where exactly the place is that we are staying.  As far as cost goes...let's just say I can't get too carried away!

Another question, what exactly is on a "chicago style" hotdog?

Get some ribs.

Optometry school doesn't leave a lot of time to see other things.
