Hi everyone.  I am a non-motorcycle owner right now, but really wanting to a Monster 696.  Just need to convince my wife, haha!

Anyway, figured I would get an much info as I could while I figure out getting one.  Thanks for reading.

Not looking good.  Any advice to convince a wife that thinks motorcycles are death on wheels?

Hmmm, I'm probably not the best person to ask as I met my husband through motorcycling.

You might try posting up in the General forum and see if anyone there has been through it and has any advice.  You'll probably get a mix of responses, some helpful and some not at all.

Motorcycling is a risky activity, there's no denying it.  Personally, I would try to see what she thinks if you agreed to the following:
- Take beginning safety classes before starting (and intermediate-level classes later on)
- Start on a small bike (such as a 250) before moving onto anything larger/more powerful
- Alternatively (or in addition) start off on a small dirt bike before trying a street bike
- Always wear full gear
- Never mix drinking with riding
- Make sure you have good insurance

You might also want to read up on the Hurt report and see what the major causes of motorcycle accidents and injuries tend to be; some of them are very preventable.
