I'm thinking about giving up the leather 2 piece riding gear for textile.  Would people voice in with what brands/models they like?  I'm looking for something with more versatility (rain, heat, cold, etc...) than leather.  Would prefer to not break the bank in terms of cost. Thanks!

I use a Rev'It jacket and Dainese D-Dry pants and both have been great for all-weather riding and keep me dry in the rain. [thumbsup]  For colder temps (30's and 40's) I usually also use a heated jacket lining (Gerbing).

Also check out the Aerostich catalog, some good options there (just none that fit me well).

I would keep the leather ones too....they do different things better.

I have had a 2-piece of Tourmaster Cortech Sport that has served me well for over 10 years (geez im old)

i keep thinking about getting a new one, but there's nothing wrong with these (other than wanting something new)

Thanks!  I'll check those out.

Aerostich is the gold standard.  It will break the bank, but is worth every penny.  Particularly when you fall down.  Other textile, you'll throw away.  Aerostich will repair it for you.  And it'll last for a decade or more.  Absolutely, absolutely worth it.  They'll customize a suit for you too.

That said, no matter what, keep the leather.

That explains their pricing.  I''' keeping the leather as back up gear.

Where you at and what's your requirements?

With any gear, protection, good fit, flexibility.
aka zip out liners, vents etc.
For about $300 I have a tourmaster intake jacket & flex pants, they cover me well from 30's up for 45minute
commute, warmer for longer rides.

water proof is great but an (seperate) outer waterproof layer is more convenient imo, additional protection
in cold and easier on - off than w/p liners.

I'm in New York.  Have have a set of Vansons that about 11 years old.  I like the look of leather, but it getting heavy and burdensome for quick trips.  Also it get real hot in the summer time and wet when I get caught in the rain.

Since I'm not planning on going to a track, I'm wondering if textile is a smarter way to go...also hoping for more comfort!

I think you know the trade offs between leather and textile.  Rev'IT and First Gear both make excellent textile products.

Thanks everyone!
It seems like Rev'IT, Dainese, First Gear, Tourmaster and Aerostich are all trustworthy brands.

Scorpion XDR textile is a really good jacket.
Fieldsheer highland jacket on sale at motorcycle closeout is also an awesome jacket.

If its to throw on and go around town, i cant recommend the scorpion XDR stuff enough. soft ce approved armor is SO comfortable and u dont look like ur a 1980s football player.

Personally speaking i hate throwing on my leather jacket. its bulky and heavy.

Olympia makes a nice 2 piece and a 1 piece Textile suit w, lots of vents and lots of pockets.

I still prefer leather but I don't ride on a lot of days when even perfed leather is too hot ...but may be Textile would be OK .

Only thing that concerns me is the Armor quality in some of the textiles.

Dainese if it's Textile has the same degree of Armor as it's leather then I'd get some Dainese Textile gear.

I've got a 2008 Rev'it Ceyenne jacket and 2010 Rev'it Sand pants and I love 'em!! I recently had a little spill(about 30MPH) and there wasn't a scratch on either of them.
The reason I stated the year is, even though they are 2 years apart they still zip together. There is one small zipper and one full length zipper. Super comfortable and super durable! Although it it somewhat pricey it's well worth it. They both come with removable liners, both warm and waterproof.
