Most races typically air live on MotoGP around 4-7am cst.  It depends on which classes you are watching, and where in Europe they are.

I wake up and watch everything live during the weekends.  Its just a "sacrifice" I like to make.  However you can just bring up the feed later and watch it with friends if you so choose.  The full race in HD will typically be available for viewing less than an hour after the live race ends.  Be careful though, as not seeing the results is nearly impossible.  Whenever I have to miss a race, I have my girlfriend set up the video for me so I don't spoil it for myself.

The subscription is completely worth it if you are an avid racing fan.  If you consider yourself casual, then all the extra content like interviews etc and the smaller classes might not be of interest and I'd probably just watch it on Speed.  I personally say go for it, but that's my opinion.

If you truly are a big racing fan, you'll understand why the subscription costs 150 bucks, and why its worth it.  The amount of coverage you get outside of actual racing is fantastic, and the better/longer coverage of races is wonderful too.  You also get to watch practice and qualifying.

Thanks.  That's what I was looking for.  Yeah, that would be groovy (as my grandfather used to say) to have the whole race and related activities recorded, have an early afternoon cookout and race-watch with da boyz (and girlz).  I think I'll pull the trigger and subscribe.

Can you pull that down with a Roku box, or do you have to use a PC/Internet to grab the feed?  Thanks.

School's still out for me on the whole Moto2 thingy. I'm not ready for  [puke] NASCAR  [puke] type restrictions to infiltrate into the FIM scene racing. The M2 class is limited to a 600cc displacement with ALL the motors being made by ONE shop by one manufacturer...Honda! If you're going race then damnit race what you want. If you're going to have a World Championship 'supersport' class of racing I say, as it's always been in racing, it's run what you brung all out!  [thumbsup]  Each team has only to build a frame with suspension tooled to fit the Honda engine. If this is change for changes sake then why Honda? If they really wanted something different then for crying out loud in this day and age of everybody pregnant doging and moaning about going 'Green' why didn't they just make this class a TTXGP !!  [bang] That way the FIM will still look responsible and gain favor internationally and at the same time hold everybodies attention because 'they are doing something good for the world's eco-systems'. Last year the TT did this. Albeit with little fanfare.

The spec motor rule was set up to ensure a full grid of competitors for a new class. There was nothing on the line any more in GP250, except pride, and with a sputtering world economy, manufacturer interest and sponsor money was drying up. A spec race is better than nothing. There is still 125 for a training ground for younger riders, but they need some 4-stroke experience on the circuit before moving to the premier class. That will probably reduce the rate of spectacular rookie crashes in MotoGP, too.

I have had a MotoGP premier membership for the last 4 seasons, and have loved watching the full races live, in HD, and without commercials. Also the QPs in SD are when you get the benefit of the commentary concerning the race prep issues that the teams are contending with.

If you have a Mac, you should be able to output directly to an HDMI jack on a HD TV, although I haven't done it yet. With MotoGP boasting 1280p resolution this year, it would be time to try. I wonder, would anyone like to come over to the house at 4:00 AM for a race watching party? [coffee]

I thought Moto2 was an interesting experiment - engines are so refined and expensive to produce that little (well, much less) attention has been paid to frames and suspension.  The smaller displacement (600cc) is big enough to make for speed and small enough that differences in frame/suspension construction can be discerned. 

Who knows - the lessons learned may even find their way into our next bikes.  What if someone discovered that the trellis design wasn't as good as a monocoque frame made using the body work we now use kinda for piercing the wind.  That's what I'm talkin' about.

Anyway, racing is always (or should be) a test bed for new ideas, applicable ideas, not just a test of how deep the sponsor pockets are.  Racing is very expensive and a lot of clever people are excluded just because of the costs involved.
