So.  I was thinking that it might be fun to open the house up to you hooligans, but how to lure you to Allen???

Hmmm.  The Sweetie has a HUGE TV upstairs in the Entertainment, er, "media" Room.  Maybe a subscription to the MotoGP series?  But I know nothing about this.  So I have questions:

- Should I subscribe to MotoGP races or Moto2?  Are they both on the same venue/date/location?  What's the difference between them?
- The races appear to be on weekends, but at odd CST times... how do we hold them until the weekend?

Suggestions, comments welcome.  Thanks.

George,

Assuming you have Speed Channel access through your cable/sat provider you don't need to "subscribe" to anything to get the MotoGP races. They air the races same day tape delayed. Usually around 5pm on Sunday's.

MotoGP is the top tier of the World Championship, Moto2 is a step down from that and those races are usually delayed until later Sunday night. MotoGP would be the one most folks would be interested in; not only is it the top tier but they also have 3 American's racing in that series, a pair of them being the Team Texas (Yamaha Tech3) combination of Colin Edwards and Ben Spies and of course Nicky Hayden on some kind of red machine, I forget which............... ;)

The season opener is the day of the Hico run; 4pm from Qatar. Is that the night race under the lights?

Hmmm.  I don't know if we get the Speed Channel (but I'll know by 6 p.m.).

So, if it's on Speedvision, why would anyone pay $150 to subscribe to MotoGP?  Earlier viewing available?  No commercials?   :o :o :o

They probably have access to live feeds, but who wants to be up at 4:40am local time to watch a race?

If you have DirecTv it is channel 607 I think. It is NOT part of the basic package though; I pay like $5 a month for "expanded sports" or something like that and that give me Speed.
I don't know about the other providers.

Qatar should be a night race. It has been the last two years.

We're with TimeWarner Cable and it's Channel 788  [thumbsup]  As with any race-related broadcast, I'll usually just tivo the coverage then watch it "commercial-free."

Yeah, so I'm cheap.  BFD  [laugh]

I subscribe to MotoGP, and you'll get coverage of all three classes, access to all archived races, some of hte classics, interviews, extended coverage, no commercials, etc.

Most races typically air live on MotoGP around 4-7am cst.  It depends on which classes you are watching, and where in Europe they are.

I wake up and watch everything live during the weekends.  Its just a "sacrifice" I like to make.  However you can just bring up the feed later and watch it with friends if you so choose.  The full race in HD will typically be available for viewing less than an hour after the live race ends.  Be careful though, as not seeing the results is nearly impossible.  Whenever I have to miss a race, I have my girlfriend set up the video for me so I don't spoil it for myself.

The subscription is completely worth it if you are an avid racing fan.  If you consider yourself casual, then all the extra content like interviews etc and the smaller classes might not be of interest and I'd probably just watch it on Speed.  I personally say go for it, but that's my opinion.

If you truly are a big racing fan, you'll understand why the subscription costs 150 bucks, and why its worth it.  The amount of coverage you get outside of actual racing is fantastic, and the better/longer coverage of races is wonderful too.  You also get to watch practice and qualifying.

Not sticking up for McPintsize, but go back and rewatch that race for kicks.  Nicky comes underneath Pedrosa a few laps earlier, darn near loses the front, and almost takes out Pedro the same way Pedro takes him out 5 minutes later.  Honda had no team orders as Pedrosa was still mathematically in the championship.  It could have gone the other way.  I chalk it up to racing... although it was a douche move all things considered.

No one cares if Hayden actually did it all by himself, everyone just likes thumping on Pedrobot. Once you start you just can't stop because it's so much fun!! [laugh] [laugh]
