My first bling

The large number plate holder that came with my bike has been bugging me, not least because of the ugly chrome plastic numberplate surround advertising Northside.

I noticed Dez had a cool minimalist one made from sheet aluminium, so I shamelessly copied it over lunch, using 3mm aluminium sheet:

I put some gussets in where the fold is, and TIG welded them in, so it won't flex and fall off :)

Now for some paint, and then I can put it on my bike.

So that's it.  The start of the slippery slipe.

I just love a girl how knows how to handle her TIG welder.

Great job by the way

Dunno about Dez's butt.  I can say his brake light is good though.

Here's a couple of photos of the whole thing assembled, with a couple of coats of satin black enamel, baked in my oven:

I relocated the rego sticker to the left hand side, held on by the muffler mount.

I especially like the way it renders the text on my numberplate completely invisible.

On the subject of  my "derrierre"
Apparently it is a legal requirement (if Mr Plod feels like picking on you)
to have a reflector other than the tail light on the above mentioned  U*U of a motorcycle.

As I seem to attract more attention than wanted by Mr [leo]
I used a couple of reflectors which Ahmm I borrowed
from the kids  pushbikes  attached with double sided tape to the back of my DSS see below.

Damn Mostro - I was going to ask that!
Suzy - I reckon you could find takers for at least half a dozen of those.. and lets face it.. it sure beats baking scones in that oven.  [thumbsup]

Hi. I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from such self-help tapes as “Smoke Yourself Thin” and “Get Some Confidence, Stupid!”
NYTimes: "...highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demigod and a dildo collector."

How good this this girl!

Top job, the most satisfying mods are the ones you make yourself.

btw if your making more let me know. I know someone with a large rear end (butt) who needs for fab skill to tidy things up a little.

Sorry to be a meanie, but my access to a TIG welder (and to sheet metal cutting, punching, and folding gear) is through my workplace.

Slipping down to the workshop and talking about beezas with the sheety every now and again while I cut and fold some offcuts over lunch is one thing - doing a whole batch would be frowned upon.

So sorry guys.  I can however supply drawings, so you can arrange fabrication yourselves...

Never mind the bloody reflectors, it's the shotgun? cartridges stuck in your frame that I'd be worried about.

I've been reliably informed that 20 gauge is a girls gun and shouldn't be too intimidating.
