I've heard of people scraping footpegs but this is ridiculous.  [laugh]

I was just funnin'.  ;D
actually the next day it felt so good I was in a good mood
all day. I guess all that pushing and bending was helpful.

The worst part was near the end when it felt like
it was splitting open.  :oThat on top of everything else
was just more than I could handle.  My envelope
has been pushed 8)

Yeah, the only reason I know they are plastic - or even there for that matter - is because Triumph will be more than happy to sell you some chrome ones; they've got an accessory catalog that holds its own pretty well against the likes of Ducati and HD...

Must.  Resist.  Temptation...  [laugh]

I almost like the cracked one on the 695. It still
works and reminds me to be more careful.

Like RickMillerTX, I lost my LS mirror when side-swiped by a taxicab.  Rode with one mirror for about 3 weeks (Rick came over and helped my repair the broken mirror).

I felt very unsafe (like driving a car without wearing the seatbelt).  Here's why: as mentioned, you have to turn your body and look over your shoulder to see if anyone is there - when you do that, you take your sights completely off everything that's happening in front of you.  Somebody cuts in front from the other side, slows or stops abruptly and you have a face full of cage (or truck).  I use both mirrors and a head check - but the advantage is that the mirrors tell me if I even need to do a head check.  If my mirror shows some big-ass truck or SUV, I don't need to turn around to confirm.

Look, it's all about the odds.  If it's safer or just as safe to have no mirror, would you remove them, even if they're not broken?  The fact that you asked tells me you have doubts about the safety - fix it as fast as you can.  Be safe.  Be with us for a while longer.
