Ouch you can see why he was in so much pain when the Medico's got to him.

vossy

very sad for Vale.
The championship won't be the same without him.
Well on a brighter note, this gives Casey a more optimistic chance for his championship campaign

I just got through reading the article about Wayne Rainey in AMCN last night on shift and I woke up to this on the Forum page!  :(

Couldnt get the thread open quick enough.

Even the best can have a bad day day?? They just have a lot less than us mere mortals.  [roll]

Get well Vale.  [thumbsup]

Mr.S2R

As much as that injury looks serious I don't think this will stop Rossi.  He wants to get that last championship so as to put daylight between him and anyone else!  Wonder how poor Jeremy feels also.  I hope Rossi still continues just for my selfish reason of seeing him race at the Island one last time!

mattyvas

Yep true I think we are all selfish and want to see him race at The Island one more time.
But he has never had a serious injury in his riding career, lots of bumps and scrapes but no major broken bones.
It might be enough to see him say okay riding done or okay one last tilt but then some of us were thinking this might be
he one last year with his contract up again this year.

But can I say what's with that hair cut Vale  ???

Its hard to believe that he's ridden his whole career and never had a major break!. He's tough and I wouldn't think it'll top him returning this season.

Mr.S2R

well if the Legend Barry Sheene was still around and Rossi didnt continue he probably would of called him soft - or smart!!

I thought the haircut was cool - always loved that mohawk type of looke!  [clap]

his record speaks for itself, but with no adversity we've only seen his "character" as the doing it easy winner. As others have said, he's been lucky with no major injuries, this will test his mettle. If he comes through it and is as good/fast i'll be surprised, he's done it all and won it all and i reckon this might hit home that he's human and as you get older you don't bounce!
chalk it up to pressure from lorenzo, but i still say GO STONER!!!

Its an absolute tragedy! For the sport in general.... I really hope takes the year off and comes back super fresh and hungry for 1 more championship... He is the greatest character bike racing has ever had and has done more for the sport than any other ever!

Sad, sad day  :o

dragonworld.

I seem to remember another rider from the evil 2 stroke era that could ride a bit,  [thumbsup]

And ended up horribly injured, mainly due to the incompetence of medicos  [roll]

who showed his mettle, guts and determination by coming back and doing fairly well??  [bow_down] [bow_down]

Lets see Rossi show his true inner strength!  [thumbsup]

(But of course GO STONER!!  ;D )

Being fairly fit and not having had too many horror injuries prior, I would guess the chance of a full recovery seems quite optimistic.
Get well soon Vale!  :-* :-* :-*

Betty

If it was me I'd call it quits.

If the average punter thought I needed to prove if I had the guts ... well then too bad for the average punter. He is doomed now anyway - unless he comes back and completely dominates ... you know ... 'ah but he isn't as good as he was before the accident' kinda comments.

JB was indicating (without saying as much) it may have been a slight lack of concentration ... perhaps something is written on the wall.
