Guy Martin / Rule Fascist (pit lane speed) = you're make the beast with two backsed

I think he got seriously robbed. He indicates that he asked to see certification of the (presumed) radar gun used to time him. Given that he was cited for exceeding the speed by .122kph (or about 0.07mph), I think this is a reasonable request.

One argument against allowing him to not be penalized for his excessive speed is the slippery slope theory. If we question that small amount, well, now we open the door for opponents who lose by similar margins to protest the results and say that, within error, they could have won! This wouldn't be a problem in race-to-the-line events like motoGP because you would have a photo finish. In the IOMTT wth staggard starts, we have nothing to go by but perfect timing.

But the pit lane speed is not measured by time, it is impossible because each competitor travels a different distance to their pit, stops at pit for a different time....they MUST be using radar. And radar does have some error. I think that it is a perfectly reasonable request to ask what the margin of error is. If it is proven and documented to be accurate to within .07mph, then fine. But I seriously doubt it is that accurate. Even temperature variances between the radar gun and the target will slow the return signal and skew the results. You know how you can "see" heat coming off your bike? Well, at longer wavelengths of radar this is even more of an issue.

I strongly believe he got ripped off.

Any and all measurements are subject to some margin of error.  I think the best they can say is: don't exceed this speed as measured by our equipment.  Sadly, if Martin wants to push that close to the edge, he assumes the risk.  I feel bad for him, but I don't know how to judge otherwise (unless their equipment was grossly miscalibrated).

I want it to be, but I dont know where to see coverage. Last year, HD Theater had all the races and practices. I dont think so this year....might be missing them

Today, June 11. Lorenzo and Capirossi from MotoGp are coming to IOM to do a lap or two. That will be fun.

Cheers.

wow, did you read about Martin's crash?

I bet the GP guys have it in their contracts that they can't race the TT.

That Kiwi guy, Donald, did a lap on the Capirosi's GP machine (a POS by GP standards this year) and he was almost in tears when saying how good it was. He mentioned how easy it is to ride and how it would be a great road bike.

FYI Cameron Donald (the guy that did the lap on the Rizla bike) is an Aussie not a Kiwi.

A little more spirited than Rossi last year

Damn I feel sorry for Guy Martin, I love to watch him race and he gets almost nothing for what he does. He always seems to be coming up second best. I hope he makes a full recovery and actually wins a race at the TT next yeat

I had read that Rossi had just puttered around last year. Silly me for believing that he wouldn't have a go at Ago's.

puttered might be a relative term for him....his putter is probably equal to most people here's pushing the limit....
