New proud owner of a ’09 Monster 1100 hailing out of Colorado Springs.  I’ve been riding/racing various Suzuki GSX-R’s over the last 10 years and have always had a bit of “Ducati envy”.  I went into the dealership with the intention of getting a 1098 or Streetfighter and the salesman suggested that I at least test ride a Monster for comparison.  Wow, was I surprised!  The bike just seemed to fit and was so much more comfortable than the 1098.  I rode both back to back two times and kept coming back to the Monster.  There’s just something about how that 2 valve puts down the torque so low.  I fell in love! (oh, and insurance is like a grand less compared to the 1098).

I shopped around a bit between Pikes Peak motorsports and Erico in Denver.  Suddenly I found myself learning about the “second skin” promotion and the deep discounts they had on a red ’09 model (still in the wrapper in their warehouse).  Erico also had the now backordered Corse bodywork in stock, termi’s , 14t sprocket, and low seat in stock as well.  You had me at “Corse” bodywork Erico!  Speaking of Erico, I can’t say I have ever had a more exciting and hassle free motorcycle buying experience.  Hands down a top notch outfit and c’mon, their showroom is literally a Ducati shrine.

Next planned mods will be an open clutch cover and pressure plate setup, but that is probably where the bling will end (until I get the carbon bug).   I took off the stock clutch cover this afternoon just to see if I could handle the signature sound and I guess I’m one of the guys who digs it.  Wet clutches be damned.

I’ve already been lurking on the forums for the past week finding all the little mods and maintenance techniques for the bike.   I’m planning on knocking out the charcoal canister mod this weekend and would have never known to do that otherwise.  Great forum you guys got here and I look forward to being a part of it for a long time.

I’ll be posting some things in the parts for sale section very soon to include the red bodywork, stock seat, and stock exhaust, ecu, and filter setup.

Some of the pictures came out a little dark, but I'm sure I'll be snapping many more soon.  And just in case anyone was wondering the Corse front fender is just plain old black.

Welcome and congrats on the M1100, looks great! [thumbsup]

Thanks for the pictures, looking forward to your updates. ;D

I think you are close to two different local groups, you might want to stop in and say hi: MHM and SoCO DOG.

Glad to hear you are loving the new wheels, have fun! [moto]

The mod bug is still going strong.

Added DP pressure plate, speedymoto 10 spoke clutch cover, speedymoto frame sliders, and cf exhaust header guards.

In the mail: Jese racing bar riser, motovation bar ends, gel grips, bar snake, and crg bar end mirrors.

My only complaint so far with the M1100 is the vibration in the handle bars.  Did a 200 mi ride last weekend and my hands were numb by the end.  I'm very cognizant about putting my weight on the bars and supporting myself with core and legs, so I've concluded it's just part of the v-twin buzz.  Throwing every mod in the book at the problem prior to the 1300 mi trek to Laguna for the GP.

Looking at the pics, I think after market rearsets would really clean up the look of the bike.  Just can't justify spending that much right now.  Any photoshop pros out there that could make the stock rearsets and brackets black?  Thinking about just getting them powder coated.
