we're not trailering, but i think we're going to shoot for 6am departure.  what route is anyone taking/recommending?  punching it up on google maps says i should take 67 to 281 to 84 to 16.  is anyone thinking that's better than just the boring route straight down 35?

also, be sure you pack rain gear.  looking like chances of some showers this weekend down that way.

:P I can't go but, the 281 route is definitely WAY better if for no other reason than you can stop at Storm's for an awesome burger.  They have a dog friendly outdoor patio too.  Duke caused quite a commotion there.  Y'all have fun and ride safe!  [beer]

edit: The one with the cool outdoor waterfall patio is in Lampasas ( there is another in Hamilton - not as cool ).  You order at the outdoor speaker under the patio cover.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

any other eating (or activities) recommendation for those of us that won't be on two wheels three-sisters-bound?  i know we'll be hitting the fredricksburg area and stopping into several wineries... but if anyone knows of "must stop at" places to eat/drink or whatever, i'd appreciate it.   [thumbsup]

on your way in you could hit up a few good beer spots:

wimberley brewing co - wimberley
real ale brewery - blanco
dodging duck brewhaus - boerne (we all know this one!)
and of course fredericksburg brewing co, fredericksburg

I'm sure there's more too, but that's what I know at the moment  [drink]

I was gonna leave my house between 7 and 8! I go a different route down there. I take 220 south to 281 south to 290 west to 16 south. If somebody picks a place and time we can caravan down. Last year we met at loves in midlothian at 730

O.K. that's cool.  At this point I'm not sure what time on Friday morning I'll be leaving.  I'm going to have the bike on the trailer by tomorrow night but I think I'll wait and leave Fort Worth after the morning rush.  I'm not planning on a Friday afternoon ride; gonna unpack and relax for a bit.

[beer]

P.S.  CJ, do you still want the extra spot on the trailer?

I'm gonna keep the tradition alive and ride down with RichD. Thanks for the offer, though.  [thumbsup]

Thanks cc but I think I'm going to follow along with Will, Malyn, and Scott.  Sounds like we're going to leave from Grapevine around 6:30.

I'm sure it will be fine...
