One more point - toward the end, I hypothesized that my shooting improvements might be the result of more practice, and not of the guns.  So to test it, we went and got a few more guns to try out.  This time, 45's.  We again got the Glock as the benchmark - G37.  I did not enjoy that gun one little bit.  I was all over the place and actually stopped half way thru the magazine.  Surprised at how differently one need to get used to a particular gun.  We switched to a Kimber 45 and that was like HEAVEN.

You won't be disappointed with the CZ

Sounds familiar.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

Yeah, you won't be unhappy with it.

Your accuracy may have been partly the weight -- it absorbs more recoil.

I have two CZ guns, an 85 and a 97 and I keep coming back to them too.  Nate is right, you won't be unhappy with it.

I was going to say it's a well worn design, but now that I think about it the Glock is getting long in the tooth too now.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

well, considering your price range you might consider the Beretta series 92FS.  I also love my PX4 series.  Go test them out, the balance and trigger pull is nice IMO.

3.  Sig P250 was supposed to be next (for price reason) but was veto'ed for a P229.  My buddy didn't like the P250 for some reason.

The trigger takes some getting used to, but it is a fantastic pistol.  I carry mine daily in a TT Gunleather IWB holster.  The pistol was flawless in two Defensive Pistol classes at Tac Pro, and through 5k rounds while going through the police academy.  I'm on my second barrel for it, and probably 25k rounds through it.

SIGs and CZs are great pistols. So is the Glock but the trigger does take some time to master and feel comfortable. I have seen some amazingly accurate shooting with Glocks of all calibers. Don't worry about their plastic magazines. They seem to have a pretty good track record. ;)

Of course the Kimber is too die for. You can't really compare a good single action 1911 trigger with a long double action pull. Apples and oranges. Though my CZ75s can go cocked and locked like a 1911 or hammer down double action first shot. Which is nice. [popcorn]

If you go with Glock, make sure you get "drop free" magazines.

No such troubles with any of my Kimbers. I'm thinking the engraved grips made them jam. ;D Wonder if it was the recoil spring they swapped out?
