The second year we shot Second Chance in Michigan, my wife won a walnut stocked 100 shot Calico 22 in the Three Person Team Event.  Its not a tack driver but if you miss with the first one "HEY!!"  I got 99 more to miss with too!  Interesting device.

I shot a Bizon remake that used a Calico 9mm drum -- they couldnt' get a real Bizon drum so they modified the design to feed using the Calico.  PRetty slick little smg

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I have a bunch of guns, so I'm probably not the guy to give advice about models and calibers -- I love all of them.  I also have a bunch of oddball calibers lyign around which is a huge PIA when I go to the range..  7.5 french, 6.8 carcano, 7.5 swiss, 7.57 on and on.

But if you "put a gun to my head" i'd want common calibers for everythign.

22 target pistol or rifle.  Even a good 22 pistol is good for small game or defense if needed.  a Ruger Mark II with a bull barrel is easily accurate to 50-100 feet with the iron sights.
9mm pistol.  Glock 19.  It's not pretty, it's not going to sing you to sleep at night, but it holds 17 rounds and you can poop in it and it will still work.
357 wheelgun -- I would definitely pick the Taurus Tracker.  7 rounds of love.
308 -- anything with a remington action and a heavy barrel 20-22".  you can put that action/barrel into a crap stock and still get good performance with good ammo.
shotgun?  any that you can get lots of replacement parts for (not "tactical" shit, stuff that's actually useful like a trigger group, firing pin, etc)  your mossy 590 is going to be nearly indestructible.  pick up a spare trigger group, bolt, pin, and stick them in a baggy in your closet or where you can get them.  if something goes, it's cheap insurance.

I started using these guys after I became frustrated with the wait for Milt Sparks.  I'm very happy with the one I have.
Those look fine... I just didn't see an IWB with a thumb snap among their offerings.

Strangest mental image I've had in quite some time [laugh]

Oops! Looks like they don't do one offs anymore.  Sorry about that.

Everything that he just said! [thumbsup]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

The most important thing you can acquire is genuine competence with what you have.  Spend the time and money on purposeful practice and ammunition instead of that cool looking extra gadget.  Identify measurable goals of competence i.e. keeping ten shots in a row in a paper plate at 7 yards  in 10 seconds with a pistol or being able to load a magazine in the dark in X amount of time, just so you can measure your improvements and quantify your competence.

You don't need fancy equipment, you need solidly reliable equipment, simpler the better and true competence with what you have.   The weapon is you, these gadgets are just your end effectors.

A competent, confident person with a 22 will beat a wannabe with his double throwdown, lazer sighted, extended mag, supergun just about every time.

This is an interesting thought but it will never happen. As usual WFAA/Channel 8 (local ABC TV) completely leaves out the whole Class III mess and bother to say nothing of the expense of a good can. [bang] :P Besides, if the hunter in the story has hearing problems why not just buy a pair of muffs or foam ear plugs? Duh??

Don't go "gun law" on this topic... please!! >:( It's just a suppresor/hunting thing being considered by TX Parks & Wildlife. Although I don't even know why they are even considering it? [roll]

In Finland, cans are available over the counter like cleaning supplies.

Plenty of shooters and hunters there and no one would think of hunting without one -- it's considered ungentlemanlike to make that much noise.

I saw a deal about stag hunting in Scotland, where their equivalent to OSHA required the use of suppressors when hunting to protect the hearing of guides.

I kinda like the noise. ;D But I also wear electronic muffs and foam plugs to save what is left of my already bad hearing. Won't even take an intown scooter ride without ear plugs. [Dolph]

I've heard that Finland/can comment before but didn't know for sure if it was fact. The last Finn friend I had was on my infamous turkey attack/neck breaking ride to Arkansas in '07 and he left for home shortly thereafter. The subject of suppresors in his homeland never came up.
