My bolt .223 doesn't use much ammo.  ;)

Was able to finally get primers and bullets for 9 mm at Sportsmans Warehouse last Thursday, but still no powder.
They even had some 22lr but you could only buy 100 at a time  [roll]

100!?!  Doesn't take long to waste 100 .22 lr

I'm looking for a pound of Vit 3N37 to finish up a project.  If someone has some, I have quite a bit of trading material.

Question about an old primer.

Today I found an unused primer on the floor and it had been there a while.  It had some white IZ_ on the OD as brass type stuff gets from age and (im guessing moisture)  The inside looked clean.

I pressed it into a case and set it aside with the intention of marking the primer with a sharpie and loading it as normal.  Probably will fire that one either first or last next time at the range.

Think it will go off?

Powder Valley shows 1lb containers in stock.

The hazmat probably kills the deal.

I don't have any myself.

Painter, I think I read (I read a lot of stuff this afternoon) that small rifle and pistol primers are the same (I saw my fedaral 129-100 listed for both... somewhere)

http://www.ammunitionstore.com/categories/reloading/primers/rifle.html

They look to be in stock because it let me put both in the cart.

SR primers have a little bit harder cup from what I've read, and they can be used for SP in a pinch.

I'm not that hard up to pay $60/K...yet.  That's just playing into this feeding frenzy.

I can wait.  ;)

Agreed.

I used to run CCI SP primers but had some trouble seating them all the way which lead to a FTF the first couple times i pulled the trigger on it.  I tried the Federal and never had another issue.  That was on the advice of a gun shop owner that mentioned CCI is on the harder end of the scale and Federal on the softer.

True or not I noticed a difference.

I think I paid low $30's for my last 1000

What powders are you using for 9mm Hornady HAP 115 grain and XTP 124 grain bullets?

I prime on the press and have no issues seating primers.

Federal is in fact the softest cup and CCI is said to be the hardest. If you have a tuned pistol with a reduced power hammer spring Federal will give the most reliable ignition.

What kind of loads you looking for? Minor p/f or SD type?

I prime on the press as well. No idea why they were seating the way they were.

Was it WCC brass?

Fancy... ;D

I've never had any issues with seating primers even in crimped military brass that hadn't been reamed or swaged.

That is with Winchester primers. I used a couple of thousand CCI primers and never had an issue either.

You can reprime military brass without swaging it?
