A quick way to open your safe, I can get in mine in 7 seconds which is not as fast as a key pad safe but close.  Put an LED key chain light above the dial (a buck eighty at the gas station) so when they are knocking down the door you can keep the light off.  If you practice and you automatically do everytime you open the safe, you can get the feel of when to stop the rotation at about the right place, and  the white on the dial makes it easy to place.  Teach yourself to spin it and stop, my wife hates me for it as she never could but she can still get in fast.  Put some friction tap on it also or anything for a grip.

If you are worried about the kids figuring it out (which mine tried I know) here is what some brain said.

"The first digit can be 0 to 9, i.e., 10 different numbers. The second digit can also be 9, so you have 10 x 10 =100 combinations (0 to 99) with two sets of numbers. And so on. With four sets of digits you would have a total of 10,000 combinations (including 0000)."   Less if you know the numbers but still too many to figure.  If you are still worried about someone working the sequence make the white one or two digits to the left or right of the actual.  The spin and the mark serve only to get you close fast.

Not only all the above it is far less aggravating to open it up when you do have time.

Finally got the gun back from having the PVD finish applied.  I will try to post the pictures in the thread later, but here is the link to the article on the Enos Forum.  http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=172168#entry1906900

It is definitely different!

Yes post some pic's, I noticed on their site they do not show that finish or describe its qualities but I am probably looking at the wrong site.   It looks like overheated plating?   I like it......

It's called a "case hardened" finish.   Case hardening is an old style of hardening steel that only affects the surface.  Modern firearms do not use it, as they are heat treated which hardens thru the entire material.

A case hardened finish is cosmetic only.  The slide on that pistol is heat treated and then the case hardened finish applied after.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I'm not an expert but I don't agree.

The TiAlN coating was done in a coating vessel the same way cutting tools are done. I suspect the rainbow finish was done the same way though I couldn't say what that coating is exactly. I have seen customers I used to call on send out some of their carbide for aftermarket coating and the result was identical. No steel to case harden in carbide.

you're exactly right, I am sure, my point was that the modern firearms with that finish aren't really case hardened, it's some kind of cosmetic thing.  once it is heat treated, i don't think you can apply a bona fide case hardening.

Also, according to the post, only "The barrel, comp, and small parts are TiAlN."

also... how can you have a barrel of aluminum?  Ti notwithstanding...?

There are chemicals that I have used in the past to get the same effect without the heat.  I have a jar at the shop but cannot
remember what it is called.  If that finish is not a plating or an oxide it is basically worthless except for the look?

I need to see one of these and hold it.

Lets see.... A Colt cylinder latch, a Glock 18 selector switch (maybe its full auto!) a Glock safe action trigger for a double action revolver - all sorts of fun photoshop parts.
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!
