Friend of mine just offered me a USP .45 for a good price.

Thoughts?

If it's what you want and a good price, go for it. Not a fan.

I had the big one from late 90's with a surefire light, (named it my house gun), it always felt to big to me so I got rid of it.  Shot nice with a long smooth revolver type first shot.  Didn't like mag drop if I remember right.  I just remember it felt almost like my Desert Eagle, well maybe not that big.  Recoil was well under control because of the weight and you can't beat the reliability. If it is the lighter one I would snatch it,  but the big one is for SWAT carry style.

They are rock solid and very well featured if you have the model with both decocker and safety.

They are very large.  That is the only negative with them -- the slide is very square.

But they are phenomenal.

Ps I am selling my USP45 ...stainless slide model..

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

USP 45 is a nice gun.

For my big hands, the full-size fit quite nicely.  As well as the P220.

Only reason I bought the P220 instead was I could get slightly better groups out of it.  Otherwise I'd have happily brought home the HK.

Speaking of big .45s... someday I will add a Mk23 SOCOM to my collection, just for the heck of it.  If I can group well enough with it, it may become the permanent "house gun".

First thing I taught my wife:

"Just remember: the pointy end goes AWAY from you!"

Second was to keep the pointy end directed away from anything she did not want to destroy (people, pets, priceless antiques, etc).

They'll never live that one down. ;D

I always thought that was intentional.

I took it as them saying its accuracy and reliability are so good that you'll never need a second mag.

If that's what they were trying to convey...

I'd call it an epic fail.

You guys are missing this wonderful feature. This is an example of those trick guns that are supposed to fire at the person holding it.
