Um...  Isn't pulling the trigger simply initiating a highly controlled explosion?  Silly clerk.

JM

That is the theory.

The only thing I can see is the bullet doesn't go down the barrel, acts like a cork and the gun goes boom in the wrong direction.

I'm just looking for cheap ammo to throw down range.

They don't sell steel case either for the same reason.  Is there any legitimacy to the clerks claim that aluminum case ammo can explode when fired?  Can the lead get lodged/wedged due to the weak casing and cause the lead not to go out the barrel rather have the pressure destroy the chamber?

To put it politely, they are make the beast with two backsing idiots.

Russia has used steel cased ammo for >100 years.

Do they refuse to sell paper cased ammo too?  Cause, you know, it might explode n stuff.

The issue with "exploding" guns is an unsupported cartridge in the chamber, i.e. Glocks.  When used within spec, even this is not an issue.  Glock kabooms have almost been exclusively with reloads and with bad ammo.  With normal ammo, the chamber is the problem, if any.  Overpressure ammo can kaboom any gun.  Aluminum, brass, steel, etc are all no problem when the chamber is fine and pressures are normal.

I suppose in some guns with chambers with poor support an aluminum case 'might' be an issue. Never heard of any issues with Blazer.

I've never heard the claim steel cased ammo is dangerous before.

The only case of an exploding gun I'm familiar with was one an instructor showed us.  Someone tried running .357 Mag through a .38 revolver.

google "glock kaboom".. plenty of examples

99% of them are likely overpressure ammo or reloads.  the other 1% possibly a combination of freak accident and out of battery ignition

I couldn't even guess the amount of ammo I've seen run through Glocks in the past 10yrs and I've never seen it happen.

Neither have I.  I've heard of it, seen pics, but never in person.  My Gen1 G21 easily had 20k rounds thru it when I sold it.

The only pistol I've ever had kaboom was a Kimel AP-9, an impressive piece of shit that tried to copy the KG-9.

Some of the crappy combloc milsurp has split case and fte and hangfires, but thats usually an annoyance not a kaboom

Steel cased ammo is a financial choice not a quality choice.  Brass expands to the chamber steel doesnt  but thats not a problem if your chamber is right sized.

Exactly.

I don't want to spend $0.50 a round for when I'm just playing around.
