Went to the ranch today and got my gun on. Lots of long, 50+yd work, tight angle shots, etc etc.

Finished up a month of work for Uncle Sugar (squirrel stuff), and had a concealment class yesterday and a refinement class today.

Looks like a good day on the range!


Did some AR/handgun work myself this weekend. Really need to commit to bringing along the go pro. So much more learning for me reviewing the video in frame by frame. Working on getting more finger on the trigger has seemed to make a small improvement.

I sold my single shot Savage 338 Lapua, and am building a slightly nicer one  [laugh] The Savage was fine, but had some annoyances. The trigger was constantly changing weight, the bolt was stiff, and no one makes a chassis for it. I got most of my $$ out of it, so I consider it a win. The new rifle will be:

Stiller Tac 338 action
Bartlein 1.350" barrel with MTU contour
McMillan A-5 stock
Stiller bottom metal w/ AI mags

I considered a Surgeon action for this build just for variety, but decided to stick with Stiller. This is my 3rd action from him. I love the fact that he is local too. Picked up the action today  [thumbsup]

Barrel was in stock at Southern Precision Rifles.

Stock is 4 weeks out, which is pretty awesome from McMillan.

No doubt, McMillan can be 6-8+ months out.
