The P-01 and SP-01 are pretty similar in regards to the rear of the frame.  The "P" is a touch shorter though, and has slightly less capacity in the magazine.

This will be replacing an old Glock 19 that I've had for the last twenty-ish years, and I'm not really committed to either "size", as they're both smaller than my 1911s or 220.  I almost think I'd like the smaller length of of the P, but don't like the fact that it's decock only.  The CZ custom shop makes a special one that has a dual trigger/safety set up, but it uses a few of the plastic parts of the Duty series, and won't allow the installation of the "custom" trigger/hammer combo.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

There are gunsmiths out there that make some really nice trigger/hammer parts for the decocker models

Cool, thanks.  I still like the "safety" model better, as I like to carry in C&L.

That 1911/Hi-Power cocked and locked feature is nice. One of the things that made me like the CZ75 years ago.

Sounds like you want an SP.

Another CZ 'quirk' is a really long DA reach.

That guy also has a reach reduction kit that I may add to mine.

I'd disagree about the beaver tails being similar on the P and SP models.

The SP and SA models have a beavertail like a 1911.

The other CZ models have a flatter angle.

I agree. They do have a long DA trigger pull. Nothing you can't get over. That's why the cocked and lock feature is a plus.

At the price point they are all good choices IMO.

Another consideration is ammo.

CZ's have a very short leade to the rifling and some hp or fp ammo won't function correctly.

AH!  The rifling/ammo bit is news to me.  What sort of rounds have you had success with through your CZ?  Do you mostly run FMJ trough it?

Yes...

I run fmj or plated Berry's RN.

I don't carry, but the word is Speer GDHP work well as do several others including Federal Hydra Shock.

It's really an ogive/bullet shape thing.

The Czechs don't use HP ammo so almost all RN will chamber and function at Saami max.

Any HP without a sharp ogive should work too

I run 99% ball through my CZ75s. No issues. I am a fan of Hydra Shock in all calibers. My CZs are plinkers not carry guns but I have run Hydra Shocks and Cor-Bons through mine without issue.

CorBon rounds have a perfect bullet for guns that have problems feeding HP rounds.

Either The CorBon Pow'R'Ball (polymer tipped hollow point) or Glaser Safety Slug (polymer tipped frangible round)...

I carried the Pow'R'Ball in 9mm and .380 for a long time, and will go back once I get rid of these free Hornadys I got. Great, great little round.

It isn't always a feed problem.

Depending on bullet shape, sometimes they'll feed, but the pistol won't go into battery.

I've been eyeing a Husqvarna 3100 Crown Grade in my local shop.  It is a 30.06 in really quite nice condition for its age.  I'd love to take it home with me, but will just have to wait and see if the price drops a bit more.  Very nice classic rifle with a silky smooth (Mauser based) action.  I'm certain that it has many more hunts left in it if I can just convince the CFO that it needs to come to our house.  Each time I go and look at a new rifle in that price range, it just doesn't do it for me.  Sure, a $1-2k rifle would, but this thing just feels solid and is much cheaper.
