Broad Street in Philly.... 2008

Anybody else there?

I was at the stadium. when the cars started getting flipped over and the riot squad came in we tried to GTFO. when that didn't work we stood by the car and helped people keep an eye out.

I'm a Philly fan and I wasn't too violent that night. I'll never forget the noise that city made that night

Honestly, I never met so many happy drunk people in one place ever. The flipping cars, fires, boobies, bricks through windows was all a bi-product of our happiness. What a great night that was. I saw a drunk guy fall from a light poll and the reaction from people was something like this...

Falling Guy: AAAggggghhhhh (splat)

Random Guy: Is he ok?

Random Girl: I think he broke his arm (freaking out)

Random Girl 2: We need an ambulance

Random Guy: Burn his shirt!

I've mentioned here before the wild, wonderful parade of project cars that show up in my neighbor's driveway - the 1947 Crosley, the pair of mid-60s Fiat 500s (one's still in his garage, the other was picked clean and sent to scrap, though I snagged the leaf spring pack for knife blades...), the V12 BMW, the variety of Honda Trail 90s, BMW GSes, Vespas, Cushmans, a Harley, an old Indian and more. And I've only known him for probably nine months.

Today, there was this:

A 1950 Chevy Truck, with a hand-built Gypsy Wagon camper shell on the back, complete with bunk, porthole & an itty-bitty woodstove:

Turns out the truck belongs to a fellow from British Columbia who's been trying to get back home for the better part of two years now - Bill (my neighbor) rebuilt the motor when it threw a rod but wasn't able to convince the guy to replace some of the basic accessories (like the water pump) when he had the thing completely torn down. Long story short, the truck is overheating twenty minutes out of town, Bill tells him to bring it by the house, and they spend the afternoon putting in a new water pump.
