Nearby Kata Tjuta as the sun sets.
Both are monstrously huge towering out of the flat desert. They have great spiritual and cultural meaning to the Anangu people of the central desert region of Australia.  There were places we were not allowed to photograph and some few are allowed to see. This is Anangu land. It was an absolute privilege to be guided and educated by a tolerant and very generous people.

The white fluff in the foreground are 50,000 lights on stalks as part of an art installation that comes alive at night.

We will definitely go back to learn and see more, and experience some of what indigenous Australians call "spirit of place". There were places in particular where the atmosphere was strong. The Anangu request people to not climb the rock out of respect.
