I don't profess to be any sort of mechanic, but I have a feeling this could be a contributing factor to why the Jag is not handling like it did prior to the accident.

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I think you're onto something there.  :P

Might want to ogle the other side, see if buying a pair might be the ticket.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

Oh, this seems to be a 'before' pic:

You think there might have been a small break in it before like that, and being pulled off axis during impact put enough stress on there to finish the break?

I'm not 100% sold on there already being a small break there, as there's no visible surface rust on the outer portion of the break.

But there's definitely a good chance that the metal was already highly fatigued in that spot.

Looks like a serious design flaw.

Yes that stress crack in the same spot is definitely suspect.

Bick's Jag is from Cali, his pic shows very little rust anywhere.
Even the cast iron disc isn't rusted much, those usually will nearly have fur in a wet/salty environment.

Inspect the crack, see if there's features like this:

I suspect it was at the least cracked partway through on the bottom, and the crash may have ripped it through to the window that the E-brake cable passes through.
Continued driving fatigued through the top.
That scenario correlates with Bick's description of it's driving behavior, IIRC.

Did the shop do any pulling?

They did nothing on that corner yet.

The car was only in CA for @ a year, but it was driven on snow in CO for the the years prior to that.

Thank you for the info.  Interesting.  I will look at the break when the parts come off.
