So... I have 5 bikes in the garage... crikeys.... I think when I get the title for CB550... I will probably sell it... bought on a lark... but whatever.... but my bigger issue is the Multi... I have under 2000 miles on it... and I have already put that many on the 999.... I am thinking that all my sport touring grand ideas.... were a load of poo.... should I sell it?? anybody have a good idea on price? KBB says retail at $9500 with higher miles and no hard bags... but I have all three key matched hard bags and frame sliders and really low miles.... poo on a stick...

Does it have ABS?  I know someone who might want it if it does.

Oh, and most people's ideas of touring and two up riding fall short in reality.  My wife rode on the Monster twice in the two years I've had it.  Doesn't stop her from using it as a justification for needing new boots.  She treats me well, she gets what she wants whenever I can afford it. ;)

Aww scheisse... the timing is never right...

What kind of timeframe are you looking at?  I'm very interested.  With where I live now, and the fact I'm gonna be even more rural in the next year, the SS needs to find a new home and I need something that can handle 2-up and gravel roads.  I am ordering a new chain & sprockets, installing that, then probably taking it to Daric to get the valves checked & adjusted.  After that... I wasn't gonna ride it much more before putting it on the chopping block.  I'd like to sell it while the weather is still good, because we'll be moving to Timbuktu before the next riding season starts.

I've been looking at the Multi, R1100/1150/1200GS, or a Moto Guzzi Stelvio.  The Multi is my least expensive option (for a low-mileage example, anyway).  I'd love the lower maintenance of shaft drive, but I dunno if I can afford it.  The Multi also handles much better than the others when you get it out on asphalt, and after the 5 miles of gravel road to where Erica and I will be living, it's an awesome twisty highway to ride to work everyday.

Don't fret about last rides Dan.  Get the service stuff done and put it up for sale.  As soon as you sell it you'll be getting something new so no reason to delay.

Crikeys... Actual mileage is 1364. Now I feel really embarrassed. I really didn't ride it. Dan, and anybody else on here... I would probably sell to at bluebook with all the extras. Craigslist  peeps are going to be asked for around 11k due to mileage and bags... Unless anybody thins I am smoking crack?

Hmm... this sounds familiar...

;)

I'd say "let's arrange it", but it would require waiting until I can sell my SS and my '98 GTI.  I have very little money in hand, maybe $1000, and lots of bills I'm trying to pay (so I can't take out a loan).  Both vehicles are going down the road anyway, but it's a matter of the time to get a couple things done on each and get them out the door.  My goal is to get at least $5k each.  The SS should be worth at least that much, considering what I'm seeing on CL and at MotoCorsa.

If you need to get rid of it soon, especially if someone will pony up the $11,500, go for it.  If nobody buys it before I can get mine sold, I'll take it off your hands.  Don't put your life on hold waiting for this broke kid to scrape together the cash.

EDIT:
Updated mileage...

Find yourself an unsecured personal loan with no early payoff penalty and the longest term you can. Could get the payment down to 250/month for a 4 year, or less for longer. Fix and sell the VW and the SS. Bam, paid off, and you only had to foot it for a couple months.

Or my favorite, cash advances on high-limit credit cards. They might have an initial finance charge, but, meh. Get back a couple hundred bucks free for cards with reward programs when you take 5k out, then pay it off immediately. Wahaha. You got all the vehicles you want and a house being built. Screw the credit rating for a while. If someone won't finance you for something even though they see you've never missed a payment, it's their loss.

Stocks suck at the moment. Pull it out of the 401k? Money's just money. Work and make more. Just make it happen, Dan. [moto]

Bendy... you are positively evil.  [evil]

I need to go look through my recent credit card offers...

Using some kind of offer as a stopgap while I sell vehicles to pay it back is a very tempting option.

(the unsecured line of credit is off the table... Wells Fargo just told me "no" on that when I wanted to consolidate a couple of debts, and US Bank has only given me a $5500 line that I used to buy the Durango and am still making payments against... doesn't seem to matter to anyone that I have a top-tier credit score and have a good engineer's income)

Paging Ryan...

Random question: what kind of range do you get between fill-ups on the Multi?  I know it has a 5.3-gallon tank, about a gallon more than the 900SS.  I typically go 140-150 miles between fill-ups, and it takes ~3.5 gallons at that point (42-43 mpg).  I've heard the 1100DS is thirsty, but I was wondering how much so.

Really I think around 150 is good bet... but I never have pushed a tank too far...

Holy crap... the reviews I'm finding suggest the 1100DS mill is capable of 50+ mpg:

http://www.montgomerybikers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56321
(this is a derby of a Motorcyclist comparo between the MTS1100 and the Tiger 1050)

High/Low/Avg according to Motorcyclist was 59/46/50 mpg

With a 5.3 gallon tank, that means 200 miles between fillups with a comfortable margin left over.  [thumbsup]  My commute is getting bumped from 23 miles each way to 35 miles each way, Mom & Dad's house will be 97 miles away, Erica's parents house will be 99 miles away, sooooo... range is important.  In the GS realm, I was looking at new and used Adventure variants, because they have bigger fuel tanks (the R1200GS Adventure has an 8+ gallon tank... it's a 2-wheeled Chevy Suburban).

150 is a bad guesstimate Ryan . . . I seem to recall you telling me you hit !150 before the warning light came on . . .
