Koko64,

You might well be surprised that painting doesn't cost all that much.
Mine were done for $400 but I also striped them myself (but bearings) which were done at bike shop.
PC is difficult as baking alloy wheels is tricky I believe.

Yeah, last time I got a set of wheels powder coated, it cost more to strip them than the PC itself, making it more expensive than painting. I will paint my stockers myself one day.
My '95 Monster has those 'bronze' wheels that are part silver, part gold and part grey. And the colour varies alot in the light. A really interesting colour. I have thought about a clear with a gold fleck over the stock bronze colour if I can find a paint that will bond to it. I saw cans of paint in the auto/speed shop that are a clear coat with candy gold highlights.

I'll have to ask DP about it.

Im going to see Collide-A-Scope tommorow to get my wheels done. Im useless with matching colours and my misses is sick to death of me asking if she thinks the colours will go!

It s navy blue S4R with a white stripe and im thinking somethign like this .Not overly gold, but a nit more on the bronze side.

So, will it work???????

Classic those comments about your Misses  [laugh]
I think you're on the right path going for a more bronze tone than gold.

stopintime

I like the bronze end of the scale. The wheel in that picture has a pale color, which will look GREAT on your blue.
One last thing to consider - you have gold rotor carriers - maybe those will have to be matched? Or painted black/grey/bronze/blue/white while you convert them to full floaters with floater buttons.

Hey - don't complain - you're the one with the fresh bug ;D

So how close is the colour to your current carriers? May be a colour to aim for?

don't think you can go too wrong with gold/bronze wheels on dark coloured bike...

Well I've just dropped them off. Shown a photo but left it in his hands. Should get them back Friday. I'll post photos once down. Thanks a lot for your help!

mattyvas

Be patient when you get them back.
Even though are going to baked it is a good idea to leave them for up to a further week
to harden properly/more.
That way you have less risk of them being damaged when the tyres are re-fitted.

cakeman

I took a shortcut anyway. For an extra $90 I drop my bike off and they take them off and re fit. So I guess its their responsibility :) ...... Yes I know, I'm lazy :)
