I wouldn't mind taking the ticket to a Lawyer down there. We wouldn't even have to go to court just drop off the ticket pay the lawyer, and who knows it could get dismissed. Worst case scenario we still pay for the ticket.

Only question is when are we goin to Austin ??? , whos drivin  ??? , and whos buyin the first round ???  [beer] [drink]  ;D

i think a cruise in a caprice is in order!!!  (or is it the crown vic?)

you know, i never really asked you at the time svoloch...  when did the cop first signal to you that you had to stop...or did he start after you were *completely* through the intersection?  i only ask because, technically...once he started "signaling" with his flashlight for the remaining bikes to submit to the side of the street (on the other side of the intersection)...we were not even through the intersection yet.  i know this is true for me at least...i just noticed he was waving his light around and i hadn't even made it out in the intersection as of yet, i.e. i had not yet even committed a crime.  had i known what was going on, or anyone else not yet through the intersection for that matter, we could have simply turned right, however, we were directed by the police to continue through the intersection.  i just thought he was pulling us over for being noisy...   :-\

also, there were no markings/arrows whatsoever painted on the street, and the sign was in a crappy location, and was not the "typical" type of sign indicating the right turn only with arrorws and a "ONLY" under the right arrow.

just throwing that out there.

Not to mention, don't they realize the humiliation we suffered for being pulled over by horse cops

No way.  Seriously?

the cruel irony in this is that i could have "ran" from this and not broken any laws...  of course i didn't have time to read through a paragraph on a sign while dealing with an idiot BMW that was just sitting stationary in the lane...

I was pulled over with my helmet off before I knew they were "pulling me over".  I stopped in front of Gingerman because a bunch of people were following me ( always a mistake, clearly ), and I was not sure where to park.  If we had kept going, well, we would have been gone....    After all, we have over a hundred horsepower advantage...

Well, I thought I found a good lawyer to help us out.  He handles traffic tickets for many Dallas attorneys, and has been doing it forever.  His name is John M Gioffredi.

I checked out his website, and he handles tickets all over Texas, but unfortunately his minimum fee for outside this area is $750.  I suspect that will be a problem with any attorney from this area.  An Austin attorney would probably be best.  I'm still leaning toward the defensive driving.

Crickey! The fine is $167.!!!!!!

We got a letter from an Austin attorney, so I'm going to call him after lunch [thumbsup]

The attorney in Austin can file for a deferment, where you don't have to take defensive driving, and if you don't get another ticket in 3 months ( :P), it goes away and does NOT go on your record [thumbsup]
Attorney's fee - $150.
Court cost- $100. to $125.
We do NOT have to go to Austin
I need to know who's in... NOW pleeeze ;D

I would like to add: The truth is if you do not get a CONVICTION on another ticket in 3 Months it will not show.
Get another ticket in that time and just have the Atty. keep it "tied up"/delayed until you pass that milestone.

Also, it is usually  "not another ticket IN THAT JURISTICTION" in 90 days time, not Texas as a whole, or elsewhere in the USA...
Odds are you will not be in Austin for 3 Months... let alone get picked on...
unless you are following a vegan, of course.   [laugh]

...Also: if you do chose to go to Austin, odds are you can catch up to the Asst. District Atty. the morning of the appearance.  Talk to him.  He can get you the deferment (after all sir, I AM a good citizen, please talk to the district Atty. and Judge for me...) and the deferment will cost you: the cost of the ticket and court costs.  (Duh, it's just a cash-grab after all).

To ride the ride, sometimes you can skip the line, sometimes you have to buy a ticket...  the Fairgrounds must be paid for...
Ooooh! Look!, over there! Cotton Candy!!!....   [moto]

I am in.

And who would be dumb enough to follow a Vegan?  Of course, now following a Svoloch to a bar is always a good idea...  just make sure your bar is not close to a right turn only sign and some 1-horsepower cops... ( and hell, it's probably less than 1 if measure at the back leg... )
