Sorry.  Hang in, something will work out.

Congrats, Stella! Nicely done.  [wine]

If anyone in Denver is looking for IT/scrum master type stuff PM me. I hear my company recently posted a few positions.

Sorry to hear that. I got the same news this AM.

Strange turn of events. I found out thru my insider that I was the #1 choice and as of Fri afternoon had actually landed the job. But, the guy I'd be replacing walked out this weekend. He had originally agreed to stick around for a month or so to train the FNG. The #2 choice was in-house and required no training, and they needed someone who could just step in and take over immediately. Ain't that a pregnant dog?

6 weeks of unemployment left. Starting to get a bit uneasy.

A bit of un-easy? Huh? Try years of un-easy!

Sorry if I hit a sore spot, I wasn't aware of your situation.

It took my dad 8 years to find a job in his field (power utilities) after being laid off. He went from about $90K/yr to $8/hr overnight. My uncle is going on 3 years now and can't find anything.

I've been very, very fortunate that I've never been more than 3-4 weeks without a job, so this is new territory for me. I've had to give up working in my field (construction) just to find anything even remotely hopeful.

Beat out by the Masters degree candidate? Maybe take the time you have now to get one.

That apparently wasn't the reason. Outside political pressure, county politics. I spent decades in the criminal justice world and my wife was a probation officer for 15 years. The winner was a librarian who has never set foot in a court nor does she know anything about the probation system. [bang] Can't fight that... even if I had a PhD. Besides, there are people with Masters degrees and PhDs clerking at 7-11 right now. :P Guess I'll join them.

I don't think what your wife did for a living is relevant. Maybe they thought the same thing. It seems with your decades of court experience (in what capacity?) you should be able to get a job with a law firm or at another court??

Wait, WHUH?!   ???

Who ARE YOU?!   ;)   Thanks Manny.  I hope you're doing well and I/we get to see you sometime soon.  Maybe?!

Sorry to hear about the job OFW.   :P

I've tried. Thanks.
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Sweet there is a thread for this...  [bang]

Hi, I'm Angelo, I recently graduated with a B.S. in Communication last December and I can't find a job.

With that said, i'm working on an Army commission if I can get all my ducks in a row.

Don't know what you're looking for, but Food Network had quite a few positions advertised recently. Most were for the Cooking Channel, which is based in Knoxville, TN.

Been out of work nearly a year now...going slightly insnae.

Position one: Interviewing since October. I requested a status update to which I got: "Well you are still our top choice but we can't bring you in until the person you are replacing gives us a date that he will be leaving." 4 interviews...one with the HR person, one with the IT Director, one with the CFO who oversees the office and IT staff and a lunch with the President and CEO of the company. All of them "loved me and what I brought to the table." Well y'all must not love me THAT much damnit.

Position twp: Wells Fargo contacts me and would LOVE to have me interview for a security analyst position they have available. No worries...they have 3 positions available and I have the best background of anyone they have contact so far. So I go to the first interview with the team leader and her manager. They like me and ask me to come back for an interview with the whole team. I meet with them and they all seem to like me. A couple of weeks later I have mailed the thank you card and am still waiting to hear back...I get frustrated and call the team lead up and ask if there are any updates. She says there are but she will email me later.
Later, I get an email explaining that they had pre approved the hires but her manager had not gotten the budgeting approved. When she tried, her boss said she was way over budget as it was on payroll and needed to cut at least one of the existing positions. So no new hires and some poor shmuck I met is losing his or her job.

Position three: I hear from a headhunter who has been very good to me in the past. She is VERY excited about this opportunity as it is a PERFECT fit for me and is with a global company that is known for its rock solid reputation. By now I am getting excited so I tell her to go on. She sets up a phone interview for me with the hiring manager. Incredible interview...probably the best phone interview in my life. At the end of the interview, the hiring manager says to me, "It's so hard to find US citizens so willing to get their Mexican citizenship for a position like this." Huh? Back up a second...You are going to pay me to relocate to Mexico and then become a Mexican citizen? I love Mexico. But I don't know if I want to be a citizen... Hiring manager says, "Oh no...we can't pay anything towards your relocation or citizenship, you have to do that all on your own."

I am about to sell everything I own and go find a nice piece of land in Alaska where I can live off the land and say EFF income.

I would love the opportunity but my wife is stationed here (NAS Oceana) for the next 3 years, that and I own a house that will not sell  [bang]

I hate to be emo but FML.
