I live in sweltering southeast FL and have been looking for a little heavier duty full on mesh jacket for a while now. I have a Cycle Gear cheapy  Frank Thomas mesh coat which has worked fine for 2 years, but it also has not hit the pavement. I figure it has one fall in it god forbid, and the quality is questionable at best.

My goal in a new coat was a preferably mostly white, sport cut, almost complete mesh coat with leather in the impact zones. It had to move a bunch of air but still offer an upgraded level of protection from a textile/mesh coat. And being in my 40's I wanted something a bit more subdued than some of the more Power Ranger options available. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I accomplished this last part or not...

I decided this time around I was not going to spare any expense to protect myself, so I started out looking to buy a Dainese coat. However  they really have a limited selection of mesh coats and none with leather and mesh together. Perforated leather was not an option for me, so begrudgingly I had to move along. I ended up looking at everything I could find around my location, and online. So after only finding a few coats that met my criteria I decided to purchase the Rev'It Phoenix after speaking with one of the guys at Sportbiketrackgear.

It was hard to tell if the black portions were really mesh from the pictures on Rev'it's website and STG's and honestly when I opened the box I had my doubts. It is a very tight mesh, it looks like a textile material, but it is a mesh indeed. The coat is fairly light, a smidge heavier than my textile, but not alarmingly so like my full on leather winter coat. Quality is first rate, the stitches are perfect, there are vented stretch panels aplenty, the zippers are YKK, and the leather is perfed, very soft and supple. It has 2 outside pockets with zippers, and 2 inside, 1 with, 1 without. The waist adjusters are velcro and give you plenty of adjustment, there are no arm adjustments. Almost all of the black on the coat is mesh except for some black leather on the arms. The fit I went over with the sales dude and with my 42.5" chest he said I should go with a 56. I wear a 52 or 54 in most other brands. If you have broad shoulders like me, the this is where you will need the extra room. The 54 would have been too snug up top. The arms are just snug enough to keep the armor planted.

I used it today for the first time and was very skeptical it was going to move any air at all based off of the look of the tight mesh. I was kind of like saying to myself "can I still send this back after a test ride??" However once I got rolling my fears were assuaged and the mesh started to do it's thing very well. It was a low 90's day today and I would say it vents just slightly less than my textile, but the level of quality, and protection this offers over the other is well worth some slightly sweatier armpits. It kind of screams Star Wars Storm Trooper a little too much, but I wanted white to reflect some heat so no matter what I got I was going to have some of that.

It gets an early on thumbs up from me. Hopefully it doesn't fall apart with use.

The Rev'it stuff is really good quality!!
Really well put together, you should have no fear of it falling apart. I've had my Cheyenne jacket for about 2 years and my Sand pants for almost a year. I've been down in them twice and there is barely a scratch.

You will be vary happy, at least with the jacket if not the SoFla humidity.

Where in South Florida do you live? I rode on Wednesday with my mesh Joe Rocket from Boca to downtown West Palm at night so it was not bad. But during the day, even the mesh gives me the runny armpits.

What's up with the four containers of rubbing alcohol?

I love the Rev'it stuff. I have two of their pants and expect to get one of their jackets soon too.

If you must know... add Kosher salt, some uncooked rice and rubbing alcohol to your favorite (glass) tobacco smoking device, shake vigorously and viola.... cleanliness is good.  [thumbsup]

Before you ask, the tupperware was for some pizza dough I made later on. Nothing like a homemade pizza. One batch of dough makes 5 good size pies. Why buy frozen, it's so easy?

The knives are for chopping.   ;D

I bought the rev'it air when it first came out. It is holding up so well after a few thousand miles that I'm almost bummed that I can't justify buying something more aesthetically pleasing (they've changed the color schemes and introduced some much sharper lookers since then). I love rev'it stuff.

My Joe Rocket has seen better days, so I might replace it in the near future. I'll keep these in mind when I shop around.

I also live in Boca off Palmetto/95. My inlaws live on Yamato and 2nd Ave

Boca Teeca is heavens waiting room. My parents have at least 5 sets of friends who live in that complex. I'm just north of there.
