Hey guys, New owner of a 2006 S2R800, picked it up about three weeks ago with 5500 miles. New to the street but grew up on the dirt.  Located in Hanover Mass, ( 20 min south of boston).

looking forward to making some friends and finding some quality parts to add to the bike!

See you out there,

Lots of new folks with slightly older bikes popping up recently - so here I go again

Assuming that it hasn't been done before, you'll need to do some maintenance items before you ride much, or possibly at all. All your fluids will need a fresh up and you NEED new cam belts. They are spec'd to be 2 year or 12k mile items - which ever happens first. As 12k hasn't passed I'm guessing the belts are original and working on 3 years over their replacement threshold.

Enjoy the ride, once you get those belts  ;D
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys, I have about 700 miles on the bike over the past three weeks, been riding with a friend who has a 1098 and he has given me a lot of pointers. i have the pre ride check down pretty good. I did not know the belts were a two year deal, i just thought they were due with the 6000 mile tuneup. I did take the belt covers off when i got the bike home and the belt and tensioners were in good shape. im planning on getting the bike in to a dealer or shop this winter to be looked over and for all maintenance to be done up to par.

ill get some pictures when this weather clears!
