Babies R Us can be pretty overwhelming. It makes it worse that both my fiancé and I are bad at making decisions...

Depending on the size of your baby, you might want to consider having that stroller resprung  ;D [bacon]

After a few years of unsuccessful attempts at trying to start a family on our own the Mrs. and I have decided to adopt. We chosen an agency, have gone through the state required checks and have submitted our profile for birth parents to choose from. So as of Jan 15th we are officially “adoption pregnant.”

The crazy part is we have no idea when we’ll see a baby. The agency says most couples wait about 1 yr but it could happen tomorrow. Then sometimes you have some time until the Mom delvers and other times you can get a Mom who’s a few weeks or days away. I’m crossing my fingers that we get some lead time to prepare.

I’m kind of nervous to be joining the club, but at my age (45) it needs to be sooner then later. I’m looking forward to hearing all the stories about new kids and parenting so you can all scare me even more then I already am. Oh yeah and the baby stores need to be done after a stiff double of bourbon. Makes the crowds, the screaming kids and the insane prices easier to deal with.

Surprisingly, there have never been any screaming kids in the stores and we've been to them several times now. Actually, never really see kids in there much. Just a lot of soon~to~be parents. Btw...I'm not too far behind you in age. It's been a long time since I've had any babies to take care of. A lot has changed. You'll see!  Hopefully, soon!!!

CONGRATS!!  Hope the wait isn't too long.

Maybe I just seem to notice the screamers more then anyone else...There's nothing that grates on my nerve endings then the shrill scream of a baby. But I guess it's somehting I'll get used to right?

As for soon, I could take a few more months of kidless time. I'd love it if it happened in the spring time. Considering how bad my cabin fever is by now, the thought of having a kid around and not being able to take them outside for some fresh air doesn't appeal to me.

On the plus side I told my wife, she gets all the fun of a baby without the 9 months of pregnancy and no labor pains. Looks liek a good trade off to me.

Thanks for the good wishes and Howie, do you think Jon and Ben will allow "baby baskets" at teh monthly meeting? By the way it was good to see you again there. Im hoping to become more active in Desmo and everyone there seems like good people. Maybe next meeting if you can introduce me to some of the other members I'd appreciate it.

Wantingaduc:  CONGRATS! I wish you two the best and hope everything works out wonderfully.

I haven't paid much attention to the screaming children. Most of the screaming comes from my fiancé....especially in her third trimester

On another note: my baby will be born within the next 60 days!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh

No...at least I never did.  ;) Screaming babies/kids still bug me (especially my own). However, babies crying for a reason now really make me feel bad, whereas I used to be kind of indifferent.

We had a tour of our hospital's maternity wing this afternoon.  Very happy with our choice!

Signed up for the "daddy survival" class next week.  Anybody else take one of these?
