trackday weapon...

...most of us that participate regularly in this section have a dedicated race/track bike....I myself have a Monster900 that I have slowly transformed to what it is now, and even then, it isn't a perfect track weapon by any means...

then I spotted this (on a different site than these-but these links present it better)

http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/bikes/beon-sxv-450/

http://www.beonautomotive.es/ (the makers direct website)

now, I know we have talked about dirtbikes converted for roadracing and so forth, but this one looks a bit different somehow...like maybe they got the formula right possibly?!?!?...but it seems to me, that it'd be a pretty lethal bike with tons of potential ( as long as you don't have vastly long 160+mph straights) and if I were in the position to be purchasing a new track bike ( aside from the SS900 that ML has that used to be DP's) then I'd think I'd have to try and find a way to see about making this happen...

4000 Euro?

Too pricey for my track bike, but it would be fun.

I didn't say it was a bad deal.

I said it was too much for me.

I have about $4300 in the purchase of my 996 including the Dymags.

I will easily spend the difference in just tires over time.

Add the seemingly inevitable rocker arm failures   [bang] [bang], but it's over time and easier for me to do.

Awesome bike :)

Aren't other companies (e.g. Roland Sands) making track bikes out of dirt bike motors? I recall reading about them in RRW.

I think so. But I thought some shops were building kits or full bikes for that.

Would definitely be fun. I've heard those Ape dirtbike/supermoto twins are a nightmare for maintenance though.  :-\

Something like full top end rebuilds every 4-5 k. Shit, If I was willing to do that I'd just try to get my hands on a 2stroke 250 gp.

is it strange for that to sound like a good time to me?

That's sweet, but given the size of the RSV, I wonder if the woman in the pic is over 4 feet tall.

Might be a fun ride, but I'll stick with the Gixxer. Still seems like a lot of scratch.

She's a model, so I'm gonna say she's pretty tall, plus she's wearing uber high stilettos. What I'm more disturbed about is the fact that she looks like a zombie stalking it's prey.

when you can buy fully sorted, cheap to maintain japanese track bikes all day long (incl the SV for those that feel all gushy about twins).. i mean, it's cool n all, but only on paper.
Like this is the racing, no?

I did the supermoto thing for a while and at first it's a hoot.  AFter a fashion getting passed all day on the straights by 600's and 1k's after I worked so hard to get past them in the twisty bits got frustrating.  [bang]

Now if I was on a track with only 450 SMs that might be a different story.

That said, I'm itching to slap on the slicks and hit the track.

I agree with GM on the Japanese bike thing.
Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
