Dainese Mugello questions, and sizing on Dainese

Does anybody have any FHE with this jacket?  I really had my heart set on a Laguna Seca, but I can't find one in my size anywhere.  IMO it is the best looking jacket out there, but the Mugello has some pretty similar styling.  The cost is pretty reasonable compared to other Dainese jackets as well.
Looking for someone to talk me into buying one of these.  Also a quick question on sizing, I'm not sure exactly how I should be measuring.  With no shirt and a somewhat snugged up tape measure my chest comes in at 41", this would put me between a 50 and a 52 in the euro sizing, but I'm pretty short at 5'7" so I'm wondering if that would be an issue.  Any suggestions on sizing would also be welcome.
Thanks for any input!

My experience is that Dainese chest measurements are a little off - if your actual chest measurement is 41" at least don't buy anything smaller from their charts.
On the other hand, every jacket is different, so it's hard to be exact.
If your torso is short and wide, Dainese sleeves might be a little long, but not by much (?) and you might have some bunching at the stomach when you're seated - again not a big problem...

Buying a jacket you like will make you forgive small issues [moto] Go for it!

Well crap, this was going to be a fairly easy decision, but now the Laguna Seca 2011's are popping up online...  Any comparisons that people know that would steer me one way or the other?  Information  on the Mugello is pretty limited since it is a Cycle Gear exclusive.

No FHE on that jacket. But stopintime's right about their fits and that they vary. I've got 3 jackets, two are 48, one a 46. The leather (a snata monica) 48 is about perfect, the textile 48 (air2) is almost too small. The third is the Shotgun which I got as a 48 originally and was a good bit too large and had 'flappy shoulders' at highway speeds. I returned it (to cycle gear) for the smaller size, which fits about perfectly.

So yeah, 1 maker, 3 jackets, 3 different fits  :-\ - So if you can get your hands on one, try them on.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Keep in mind that Ian's (Mr. Panda) comments reflect US sizing.  I also have a Santa Monica in 52 (Euro) and it fits spot on, other than the sleeves being a touch long.  I measure out roughly to a 43" chest and am  about 5'9".  So with what you mentioned in regards to your height/size, I wouldn't go with anything larger than a 50, and most likely something a bit smaller than that.

Where are you located?

I have many, many Dainese short leather Jackets and my advice is buy what fits you chest .

Just take the tape measure and have someone hold it around under your arms and across you nipples , not pulled tight , just so the ends of the tape me to get a measurement.

You want the Jacket to fit you snug. That way if you should happen to go down the Armor in the Jacket is not going to move around but be where it is supposed to be to protect your Shoulders , Elbows and Fore Arms.

Be sure to get either the Back Protector that is made to fit in the pocket of the Jacket you are getting or buy a separate Back Protector.

You can deal w, any oddities like the length of the sleeves as you wear the Jacket ( they shouldn't be a big deal though ).

Unless you have a perfect build no Jacket will fit perfect ...but close enough !

I'm in Ansbach, Germany.  The closest D store is a couple hour drive away, but is in the middle of Munich and a PITA to get to.  There is a pretty cool Ducati dealer about 45 minutes away (http://www.italienische-motorraeder.de/) that has all kinds of Ducati branded Dainese jackets that I may go check out just for a sizing reference...

Good call on trying them on, but don't necessarily take any test fits as gospel unless they actually have a Ducati branded Mugello there, as many different Dainese jackets have different cuts to them.  I assume you're military with the fact that you're in Ansbach?  If so, go down to the alterations shop and clothing sales and get them to measure you up.  Take the info they give you and email it to the guys at Motowheels, and DaineseDan (on here), and see what size they recommend.  I got my D stuff from Motowheels and they were spot on with the sizing recommendations they gave me.

Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, did you make it to the festival at Rothenburg ob der Tauber this year?

Well trying them on was a bust, I got to the shop and it was closed.  The Mugello is a cyclegear exclusive, so if the jackets fit differently I guess those guys would be the ones to ask about measurements.  I would love to find a Laguna Seca, but it looks like that is a pipe dream now.
I'm not military, my wife is, I'm a trainer/coach at the Crossfit gym in Ansbach.  I usually try to avoid the Christmas festivals after my first experience with the Nurnberg one, so didn't make it to Rothenburg this year!  [beer]

Xarlo, .......I have been wearing Dainese short leather Riding Jackets for years and like I said above I have MANY !

If you have an athletic build , you sound like you might , the most IMPORTANT measurement for what size to buy is only the Chest size ....forget the arms and your waist size ....Dainese only sells thier Jackets according to CHEST size .

If the Chest fits and the Arms are a little long and the Waist is a little large you'll get used to it !

Like I said before ....unless you have a perfect build for a certain Jacket , there will be some little area that could fit better.

Just get your CHEST measurement right. Not hard.

If it is 42 add 10 so you will order a EU 52, if it is a 41, I'd still order a 52 since the Dainese short leather Jackets are cut snug.

Thanks! much appreciated, we'll see where I end up going with this, there is one dealer that seems to have the Laguna Secas in stock, but we'll see if this is true when I actually call.  And the Mugello just went on sale for significantly less, so I may hem and haw about it for a little while longer then finally buy something!

Xarlo, I tried crossfit, a coworker has a gym and puts me threw a torturous workout when I work with him.  I hate crossfit!  :D

I tried on a Mugello jacket at cycle gear and the fit is a bit loose. I wear a 56 in a racing jacket and the Mugello feel almost, but not quite, like a 58. It is a short jacket but the cut is more like a touring jacket.

Good luck

mmm yeah - I gave the US size. Add 10 to any of the numbers I listed for the euro size. I'm a bit taller and broader than DRKWNG 5'11" 46-47" chest

Cool, thanks!
Not sure how this is going to work out now, may have to wait on the jacket, my budget for winter mods has been horribly and horrifically destroyed and blown away.  Got an offer I couldn't refuse on some SBK forks + triples, so I figure I should upgrade my rear shock too... should probably bleed my lines as long as I'm taking everything off the front, so hell, I should probably get some Spiegler lines, and hell, as long as I'm doing that some new master cylinders with remote reservoirs to get rid of the ugly coffins, oh and I should probably get some FCR's since my suspension is getting upgraded and then.... FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY, PLEASE MAKE IT STOP, someone take my credit card away.
