The Departed

only problem was that the departed was a remake of a japanese movie infernal affairs trilogy with parts from each.  the original infernal affairs makes the departed look like an overweight hollywood crap movie.  it was ok but should have never gotten any awards for remaking someone elses original work.

movies you can't remake becuase the cast is what made the movie

the outsiders
the great escape
star trek 2 (there is no way you can remake this movie without ricardo montalban, only way you can is by reincarnating him)

all those movies are made by the ensemble casts without them the movies will suck.

  - any Kubrick film (too late for the Shining)

I disagree on the Shining.
The original movie was all Kubrick, but the TV Movie one was what Stephen King envisioned, and I think stands on its own.
Of course, the Simpsons version from Treehouse of Horrors V owns them both

OK if you say so...I will stop liking it now
This is an insult to the Pez community

Timmy Tucker

Lethal Weapon

Full Metal Jacket

Platoon

And FWIW, I think Flight of the Intruder should be remade. I read the book in high school about a year before the movie came out. The cast was absolutely perfect for the movie, especially Danny Glover and Willem Dafoe, but overall the script was a shite adaptation of the book.

Did you know that though both Bill and Ricardo are arch enemies in Wrath of Kahn that they actually never share a single scene together?

Rebel Without a Cause cause there can be only one James Dean

On the Waterfront cause there can be only one Marlon Brando

Hombre, The Hustler, Hud cause there can be only one Paul Newman

Casablanca cause there can only be one perfect and best movie of all time.  "Play it again Sam"
"you may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas!!" Davey Crockett & AKmnstr

"An American monkey, after getting drunk on brandy, would never touch it again, and thus is much wiser than most men."
Charles Darwin

"I don't know what people expect when they meet me. They seem to be afraid that I'm going to piss in the potted palm and slap them on the ass." Marlon Brando

3:10 to Yuma was a remake.  The first was made in 1955 with Glen Ford in the Crowe roll.  Both films were awesome in their own way.  Ford played it as a smooth suave psychopath, could have been the devil himself.

Oh.

Well then I'd have to go with The Italian Job.

That should definitely never be remade.

You can't beat Ed Norton.

I can totally envision the tagline right now: *Cue in-a-world-voice* Casablanca. "We're playing it again"

Was never actually a line in the movie. Probably the most misquoted movie line ever.

yeap they may not have had a scene together , in my view the entire movie was good bc of the cast overall.

and regarding the departed to the other poster, i just thought the original was better, but hey that is why we are putting up movies that we like and debating them. like whatever movie you want.
