LOL  [clap] [clap] [clap] easily amused...

"descent-into-madness"  is a well traveled path in cinema...it has wheel ruts
and a lot of us live it every day.
Movies are supposed to be an escape from our normal experiences. Maybe on some other planet where they have giant robots and super powered people they want to watch stuff like this to escape what they consider normal.

Portman's char is nuts.  Half what she sees is hallucination. That's all it is.

Loved the film, definitely wouldn't call it a chick flick by any means but then, I have a serious crush on Natalie Portman, also have no idea why anyone found it confusing or crazy or mind blowing? Seemed fairly simple to understand. I'd go so far as to say what I took away from the film was a metaphor for the maddening effect that the internal struggle between innate good and evil that all humans face, amplified by being forced into a specific mold.
but I'm profound and shit.
or end point, suppress a girls sexuality enough and she'll be forced to stab herself. Hell, if I'd never masturbated until past age 25 I would probably have stabbed a few people.

+1  I thought the movie was very good.   :)

You don't have giant robots and super powered people where you live? How boring.  ;D

Couldn't have put it better.  I just started the 8 episode He-Man (no, not you, He Man.  The cat with the sword) last night and I was totally content.  Then again, I'm 8 :).  I want movies to entertain me.  I have plenty of other intellectually stimulating stuff in my life (LIKE HE-MAN!!) that I don't need some schmuck director adding nuggets of "life's truths" to an otherwise entertaining movie.
