Hi everyone, I'm an Industrial Design Student (im friends with that other ID Student on the forum :)) at Carnegie Mellon University and for my current project I'm designing a motorcycle locking system. I'm thinking of combining several lock types into a single lock (I've learned multiple locks is the best way to lock up your bike). and also include a mounting system so you don't need to carry it in a bag. I have a motorcycle license and have ridden before, but I've never owned a bike and therefore never had a lock. So I've come to you guys to ask if you can help me out by filling out a quick survey for me and also telling me any interesting stories you might have, or suggestions, praises, or complaints you might have about motorcycle locks. Everything helps. Also if you guys have any pictures you're willing to put up of your locking setup it would be immensely helpful. Thanks.

Something modular might be nice.  Say, a simple disk lock (included motion alarm??) that can be used by itself while you're out and about (just for the sake of getting it on and off quickly) combined with a high strength cable option that can be run from the front wheel, around something substantial, then around the frame and rear wheel of your bike for when it's parked in a bad area or just parked at home.  As far as being self contained, look into clamps that can secure it to various parts of the frame.  Rear grab handles might be convenient, or even part of the frame up between the rider's knees and the steering head.

Also, if it comes in Ducati Red, that's a plus  [thumbsup]
