Should I trade my S2R800 for a Sport 1000?

You know, this thread is doing some unhealthy things to me.  I had accepted the fact that a S1000 was not for me but now I find myself wanting one again REALLY bad!  So much so that I am now looking online for a good example of either an '06 or an '07 LE.  Bad thing is I just found a few that are REALLY tempting.  Thing is, I would have to let my monster (or one of the cars) go in order to pick up another bike...   :-\

drkwing, you had better not steal the one I'm looking at.

lol And which one is that?  There are two that I have my eye on right now.  Thing is, I will be in the same boat as you; needing to sell either my S2R or my D675 in order to get another bike.

I have both a S4RS and a Paul Smart sports classic, love them both but if i had to let one go it would be the S4RS [thumbsup]
If I wasn't who i was, I wouldn't be who I am !

don't trade & have both [popcorn]

That isn't an option for me.  I am keeping my Daytona for sure, and if I can get the right deal on the S1000 the S2R is gone...

Yep, its dead sexy.
I totally fall in love with a MH 900 the other day.
Also the NCR Paul Smart is just such a dream bike.
If I had 50k I would rather go for that than a DR16 for sure.

I've got a question guys.
Why is there such a Power & Torque difference between the two 992 engines?

THE 1000s
Type   L-twin cylinder, 2 valves per cylinder Desmodromic; air cooled
Displacement   992 cc
Bore x Stroke   94 x 71.5 mm
Power   67.7 kw - 92 hp @ 8000 rpm
Torque   67.3 lb-ft - 9.3 kgm @ 6000 rpm
Fuel System   Marelli electronic fuel injection, 45 mm throttle body

THE S2R1000
Type   L-twin cylinder, 2 valves per cylinder Desmodromic; air cooled
Displacement   992 cc
Bore x Stroke   94 x 71.5 mm
Power   70 kw - 95 hp @ 8000 rpm
Torque   94,1 Nm - 9.6 kgm @ 6000 rpm
Fuel System   Marelli electronic fuel injection, 45 mm throttle body

& THE S2R800 compared to the 1000s it has more Torque?
Type   L-Twin cylinder, 2 valves per cylinder Desmodromic, air cooled
Displacement   803cc
Bore x Stroke   88 x 66mm
Power   56,7kw - 77hp @ 8250rpm
Torque   72,6Nm - 7,4kgm @ 6500rpm
Fuel System   Marelli electronic fuel injection, 45mm throttle body

This is far from an experienced answer, especially  because my S1000 isn't here yet, but I think it is because the stock airbox on the sport classic series is much smaller than the monster.  Things should start to really open up once you change to the DP intake/exhaust/chip kit for the sport classic and put it in an area much closer in power.  Plus, the one I got was re-geared to 14/40, so that should add a bit more pep as well.  ;)

DRKWNG, you got yours?!?!?  Congrats!   Reading this thread is totally making me fall in love with them...hopefully you sold a car instead of the S2R.  BIkes are waaaay more fun and much easier to store than cars.  "When times get tough, the most practical vehicles have to go"  or something like that, anyway, congrats and post  pics and review  when you get her!

Thanks man.  Mine is on its way to me now and should arrive at the port on the 26th.  I did have to let the S2R go to get it, but it's all good.  I still have my Daytona and my Honda S2000 as well.  ;)

Honda makes a great car and that S200 is beautiful, what color is your Sport?

Thanks man, I really cannot wait to get it!  Good thing that I am taking part in an exercise at work starting on Sunday, and won't really have much time to think about it taking another week for it to get in.  ;)

And yes, it has the DPcars tail chop to it already.  It actually has a pretty thorough list of mods done to it already, including the forks being re-sprung and valved.
