dry clutch Q?

so...i was getting my new (well, new to me) clutch pack ready to drop in the bike...and i noticed that a steel bushing seems to be a tiny bit taller in this new hub...thus causing a small space in which the plate beneath has room to move around.  let me post a couple pics...

i wouldn't make a big deal out of it, except that there seems to be a lot of space for that giant silver "washer" piece...  maybe i'll post this up in the tech forum.

The gap closest to the word "gap" is NOT good.
The other gap is insignificant.

The first gap will allow the hub to move laterally (side-to-side relative to the bike) That is NOT a good thing.

well, i think if i put it in and torqued the nut down on the collar, the hub wouldn't have any play.  but there would still be that gap of about 1mm that would allow that large washer (which i fail to grasp the point of) to move side-to-side...effectively just "jingling" around in there.  which at first sounds almost like a neat feature...but i'm sure that's not a good thing.  i emailed the guy i bought the pack from (he pulled it from a SS actually) to see if he indeed neglected to send me parts...or this pack just doesn't need the collar and large washer?

and i can't say thanks enough to you man for making that trip to drop off the fabbed collett.  it looks like the clearance is perfect; i'm going to give it a go after work today

I'm wandering in from another city, but I've recently replaced my clutch basket and it all looks very familiar.

Just wondering if you aligned the pin-like thing on that center steel bushing-thing. There's a single pin that locates it on the back side of the flange which might make it sit with that gap.

actually i got in touch with the guy that had this installed in his supersport...he told me that the bushing piece as well as that large washer-with-divets (and cush drive piece), are not needed in this installation.  just the lock washer for the 32mm nut.
