....... And how did those bushwalking/camping trips turn out??  :)

You'll be right mate! I remember when I was on my L's every Wednesday a group of old fellas would meet with us and set up the L course on some sort of private Ed and we would all go for a ride after...... Really nice guys and it helped a lot....

vossy

The camps usually turned out ok (the odd twisted ankle and the like and also "I can't do this anymore" syndrome)

The other two guys that are doing it have done this a few times so I'll be mainly there to be the extra help.

yeah same here.

mine was, here's the bike, there's the road, go and ride.

I must admit that I'd been riding trailies for a while on the farm, so this made the transition easier.

The Learner ride that I was part organizer of went off without a hich.
We ended up with 28 bikes all up. Some people bought mates etc along.

I'm thinking YEESH! when the bikes kept comin' and comin'

So 17 learners and about 10 -11 other riders.

Great day had by all.

Hey Vossy,

Tell us more.  I'd be interested in helping out on a ride like that if one was organised here abouts.  Were there specific exercises, instruction etc that you did for the L platers?  Who organised it?

Hi Suzy,
The ride was organised through riding SA. ( a motorcycle group in Adelaide) I go on the odd group ride with them from time to time. They were having a "Learner ride Day" so I thought I'd help out.

The ride wasn't a training day so to speak but just a general ride to get the learners miles up and to follow the more experience riders to see how they brake, corner etc etc.

Basically we organised a Day, starting point, departure time and Route on their website. People who were interested put their name down and met up on the day.
On the day of the ride We had the usual ride brief, like Who 's the ride leader, Sweep (or tail end charlie) rider etiquette rest stops etc.

Then we had a Q&A time and off we went.

That basically sums it up really.

Hope this helps.

If you need to know more I'm glad to answer your Questions if I can.

Sounds like a typical Sydney Ozmo ride Vossy [laugh]

I dunno.  He didn't mention getting lost.

Well that's the main part of the learning experience they left out :)

Getting (slightly) lost is half the fun.   I usually end up finding some nice alternative roads when I get a little side tracked.
