ive been setback on this project due to lack of time. So far, i need a new crank, but i need to split the engine. I got the tool to remove the flywheel, but dont have to the tool to hold the crank in place while i remove the flywheel, and also, i started remodeling my garage so everything is everywhere. One the motor is done (not sure when) ill start modding the subframe.

I know this thread died, but I'm curious if you got anywhere.

I bought the same bike in worse looking shape (but running).  $600.  For another $300-400 in parts I ended up with this (probably could have done it for half, but I lack experience/tools).  Not bad looking with the right seat.

and as purchased:

beautiful!  [thumbsup] where is that seat from? the before picture looks an awful lot like my old CB400A that's been stuffed in the back of a garage for the past decade or so

clean looking!

i never got the bike back together.  :-\

the motor was the main issue. Ive been looking for a running motor for the past year. no joy.

with all the hippies around here, they are starting to ask ridiculous prices for these bikes. everyone wants 3k+ its NOT worth that much. there are too many of them out there to be worth anything significant.

Yeah, that's why I ended up with the Hawk.  Was looking at the mid-70's CBs, but ran into the same 3k problem you did.  But Hawks have NO aftermarket and aren't compatible with most CB parts, so the hipsters avoid them and you can find them on CL often in my experience.  Maybe they're more common in PA area, e.g.:

Anyway, it's a blast to ride but I'm moving to NYC in a month and can't keep two bikes, so I may have to get rid of her.  :(
