I have been looking for GPS mounts, and couldn't seem to find a decent one that I liked. So, I waited for the boss to leave and fired up the CNC machine after work  ;D. I made this one out of hpde plastic. The unit slips in from the top and is a snug fit. It clears the tank at full turn and I can still see the guages. It is  mounted directly to the handlebar clamp, so there is no vibration. Power is hardwired to an ignition source so the battery doesn't drain when the bike isn't running. Just thought I'd share, since I am pretty happy about the way it turned out.

Nice... How is the visibility while riding? in bright conditions?

I only got it out last night so I can't comment about bright conditions yet. The visibility though is awesome. The angle seems to be right where I want it. I'm taking it for an out of town ride this weekend, so I can comment more about it afterwards.

Haha, everytime I've posted a pic of my bike, one of the first comments is, "more pics of the tank!". Here are a few from a previous post:

Looks great, i need to make one for 796! I can't live without GPS in this city, my riding is usually limited to my known routes!! LOL! Unless riding with people that know the city, but then I'm left having to ride at their mercy!

Nice work.  I use a Zumo 550 on a RAM mount, it works well and visibility is ok even in the day.
