Going to be in Vegas for a couple of days next week on business.

Not much of a gambler, but what are some other things not to miss while in the area?

Do you like to mountain bike?  35 minute drive off strip has some good trails connected to a little town called Blue Diamond.
Ahh... but the servant waits, while the master baits.

Hoover Dam, all of the various excellent shows (cirque du soleil) or just drinks at a titty bar  ;).

If you have time to see a show..any Cirque would be recommended.

I've only been there a few times.  Not a gambler here either but there are a lot of things to see around the strip that are inexpensive..even free.  The fountains at Ceasars Palace, the white tigers at The Mirage, the sites at the hotel pools.  ;) Ride the roller coaster at NY-NY,  Go to the top of The Stratosphere, Circus Circus, Fremont Street, etc.  There are several restauraunts too.  I'm sure there are a thousand more things to do since I last made a trip there in '05.

People watching anytime in the day though is great!!

+1 on Cirque du Soleil

There's great rock climbing at Red Rocks just outside the city.

It was great meeting "The Dude" at long last.   She brought us some epic beer.

Go to one of the local gun shops/ranges and rent some MAC10's sub-machineguns and bad-guy targets etc. and blast away at their range screaming at the top of your lungs

I live outside of Reno, Nevada, and people always assume I know all about Las Vegas, but no, it's a long way from here, and almost like a different universe.  Only get there once or twice a decade.

+1 on Hoover Dam.  They used to have tours that went deep down inside the dam, very worthwhile if they still have them.  And +1 on the titty bars also.  They have places the likes of which I've only seen before in Manila and the old Hong Kong.  I guess I've led a sheltered life, didn't know there were places like that in the USA.  They can get expensive real fast, but worth a drink or two just as a societal research scientist.

I stayed at Wynn's casino, courtesy of the company I was working for.  I was amazed at how friendly the staff was and also how happy and cheerful the customers were.  Mentioning this only because it was so surprising and did not fit my image of Las Vegas.

I was near there at a place called Goodsprings years ago.  Interesting desert and also big horn sheep country if you like that sort of stuff.

The Hoover Dam trip is worth it if you can make it. I grew up in Vegas, and have done the tour 3 or 4 times now...I still enjoy it. I believe there are two levels of tour...get the good one. It's an amazing place.

Yolies Brazilian Steakhouse on Paradise is a good place to eat. It's been there forever, and is still very good (I ate there over the summer, but used to go when I was a kid).

These guys are awesome.  This show blew me away.  I saw them here in my home town when they toured.  I liked the show so much, I'd fly to Vegas just to see them again.

Also, titty bars. :D

go in the Venetian and sit down in the main square way inside and get a cocktail or few and watch all the free street performance style stuff going on in there....

Imperial Palace has a nice display of some gorgeous and rare cars to look at -> http://autocollections.com/
when I was last there, I was drooling over the 3 Ford RS200's they had....

hell, just walking up and down the strip to people watch was pretty entertaining at times too....

Also, titty bars. :D

I think I'm sensing a pattern.  ;D

Hoover Dam sounds like a must-see also. Probably the famous pawn shop. Hopefully there's time for plenty of other nonsense as well.

Some nice golf courses if you golf.

rent a car and take a drive to Red Rock Canyon.  Then go to the Hoover Dam.

The outside circle bar at the Imperial Palace is always a good time.
