Hard to have stance without knowing what the proposed restrictions are.

Hmm more details - but if the stuff in the article IG posted is true - it is 'bonkers'

Not even being allowed a different brand or type of tire is crazed. Ok fine, you don't want people boring out their engines, removing cat converters and such... But apple and oranges.

I wonder what exactly this law will limit
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

- '08 KTM 690 StupidMoto
- '07 Triumph 675 Track bike.

What could possibly be the reason for this? Safety? To generate revenue from violations, which are bound to occur en masse? Or to just irritate the millions of bikers in Europe and start a major shitfight? Europe has many more bikers than the US, and for obvious reasons. I can't imagine they will take this lying down.

Britain has one of the greatest motorcycling cultures in the world. I hope this doesn't happen to them. They refused the Euro as they rightly should have. They should refuse this as well. Probably time for the EU to just die already. It hasn't helped anybody. Worst idea ever.

Sent that link to a scooter-riding pal of mine in Gottingen who at least has a dark sense of humor. They are already over-regulated. He replied...,

"Same with cars, new rules do not allow owners to drive on their own, you need a F1 or WCC rallye-trained chauffeur, like most Euro-Polititians have today (payed from our taxes). Next step: Only aluminum and carbon fibre chassis allowed when building cars."

Acceptable materials are determined by checking which has the greatest VAT revenue.

I remember reading something about the orange vest legislation in France. Protesters riding naked with vests on, as the legislation doesn't stipulate other safety equipment. Seems nobody gives much of a shit what you're wearing so long as you have an orange vest on. [roll]

What if this type of legislation gets through? even if bit by bit....slowly slowly... where would we all be?? a lot of us here change our bikes a little as we have the freedom of choice... what if that freedom is taken away?
I know those of us not in the EU think "aaah it wont affect me"... but generally these things always do... I am amazed that this sort of policy is even being actively pursued at a time when the Eurozone is in a real mess with a significant part of the world lacking the confidence it will manage to continue...
I am an Aussie and the rules at home got so tight I took a couple of years off to live overseas to get away from it all...and I am by no means a criminal but geeezz... when you can be stopped by police and issued a ticket for riding a push bike without a helmet...and get speeding fines for 4 km over the limit....
I live in the UAE at present... a Muslim country where believe it or not I feel I have more freedom here than in other parts of the world. The speed cameras go off here when you exceed the speed limit by 20 km/hr not 3 or 4.... screw em.. I hate being told what to do...

Just my 2 cents worth...
