So, my wife & I stopped at one of our GREAT local restaurants and I got the idea for this thread.  I know every city/town has to have some awesome locally owned restaurants that you would direct people to if you were asked "Where's a good place to eat around here."

To participate, just post the CITY, NAME of restaurant, TYPE of food on one line.  Then post how to find the restaurant below it.

Please, no national/regional chains, just local, Mom & Pops type places.  Local chains are ok, places like Olive Garden aren't

I'll start:

Asheville, NC - Apollo Flame - Greek & Mediterranean

2 Locations
Exit 50 off of I-40, go South on US25 (Hendersonville Rd) about a half mile on right

Exit 33 off of I-26, go South on NC191 about a mile on right

Dallas, TX

Javier's

"Gourmet" mexican food, absolutely the best restaurant I've ever been to. My all time favorite place to eat on the planet. Do not come to this town and not eat there. There is a state law saying you have to... or there should be! ;) Been eating there for 20+ years and plan to die there eating dinner and savoring a special top shelf margarita... on the rocks w/salt. [thumbsup] [drink] [bacon] [bow_down] The owner is there all the time and the same staff has been there forever. What does that tell you? [clap]

Go there. You will not be sorry.

I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

Santa Barbara, CA

Via Maestra 42

The best Italian place in SB.  Don't be fooled by all those other hoity-toity places that cater to the tourist crowd.  This place is a gem.  Their Osso Bucco is heavenly.  They have some amazing dishes that aren't on the regular menu, but will make for you (if the like you...)

It's on State Street up on the Mesa, not down near the water...

the waitresses are HAWT!!!

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it
