And if you think $65 is expensive...try this  :)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panama_Canal#Tolls

Really!?!?!

The least expensive toll was 36 cents to American adventurer Richard Halliburton, who swam the canal in 1928.[

Get off Staten Island without paying a toll.  The Varrazano is now $13 cash, 9.60 EZ pass.  The alternative would be to head out to Joisy and enter through a Hudson River crossing and pay only $12 cash, 9.50 peak 7.50 off peak EZ Pass plus wastes miles, fuel and time.
I'm glad I live to the north rather than the south and also glad I rarely have any reason to go to Staten Island

i cant think of any other govt agency or private company that could get away with that.

My HMO got away with it when my co-pay doubled.  My premium went up 16% this year.

My merit increase was less than 4%.

is that your HMO's fault or your employer's fault? unless you're self-employed, i'm pretty sure that's the "deal" your benefits coordinator negotiated for your company.

i'm sure it was a combination of the HMO increasing it and the ER paying less, percentage wise.

not sure if it matters who caused it.  the point is it went up and I don't really have a choice other than to accept it.
