On the way to see the Rogue tonight and came across a clean Murano. '06 with 50K miles. Started negotiating the price and found out they replaced the motor mounts. So that red flag and hearing that the CVT engine has had problems steered me away and also away from the Rogue. This isn't an easy task.

**Seems like a common problem with these..

A lot of cars use soft engine mounts these days for crash performance.

Volvos have had this issue for years.  Its just known you'll replace them every 5-7 years depending on your driving.  I wouldn't consider that a problem. They are made to degrade..

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

and general dampening because the engineers finally got the message that most moronic car buyers want to be isolated from the driving experience and want what basically equates to a living room feel in their vehicles...which, I can't necessarily fault if you are stuck in your vehicle for more than an hour at a time when commuting....

Don't get me started on how most vehicles these days require complete replacement of suspension arms just because the ball joints are shot.

And so on.  >:(

Yeah, sometimes at around the 50K mark, as the case was with our Jeep Compass.  :P

jeep srt8...

I was seriously considering replacing the Xterra with a Grand Cherokee SRT8...

...until I read it got 8 miles to the gallon. Damn...no thanks (although I still like them).

Just jumped in... (no idea if anyone suggested)

We started looking and (surprised we where) but really liked the Hyundai Santa Fe, previous versions (not this year or 2012) have a third row that folds completely into the car (it was an option.) So small SUV with a good warranty and people are keeping them, not a lot around in the used market. I have talked to my old contacts in the industry and looked on line.

Personally I love Audi's and we where looking for something smaller than our Expedition.

The older Santa Fes had a truck suspension, the newer one is redesigned and is really a "CUV" .. the new one does not have a 3rd row option anymore, however the Kia version does...

8mpg, yup.. but you dont be fast cars/trucks for their gas mileage.

Motor mounts; have solid ones as well the trans mount...  my car rattles so much from the stiffness it puts everyone to sleep..

Went and looked at the Kia SUVs last night. Testing one today. Like the heated and cooled seats option! Pluss the dual sunroof. Actually liked that new 3 door hatchback by Huyundai but not enough room in the trunck for a stroller. Testing out the Kia though today.
