Lytro - light field cameras coming to market

Very cool new camera tech that capture an image not as just a 2d array of pixels that is that way forevermore, but as the whole batch of light filed data.

So you take a picture of a scene, and no more IZ_ pictures as you can correct the focus, change the dept of field etc after the image was captured.

This might mean the end of the IZ pic.

- And yes I knwo this got a mention in say anything - but figured folsk would want to know about the tech

Costs way less than I thought it would - I wonder what this will do for filmmakers once they start doing video.  Can't say I am a big fan of the form factor...

I was thinking the same thing. Was expecting a price line a lot closer to $1000
