that thing needs to be ILLEGAL. holy crap. got on the highway and did a midnight 30 mile quick jaunt to go tutor a friend.

90mph the whole way, which i thought i was doing 70mph. because my monster at 90 feels like all hell is breaking loose now that i compare it.

60-100mph is RIDICULOUS. its almost imeasureable in comparision to the S2R1000 which seems like it takes minutes to get there.

i wonder how S4Rs feel????

Compared to the S2R1000 it feels great!!  That same near effortless power but still the same posture and wind blast. A Streetfighter 1098 is even better than the S4Rs. Just sayin.......
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

I could be looking through rose colored glasses and have never been on a 109X Ducati but...

My S2R 1000 vs my friends S4R bikes, under 100 = not much difference.  At 80-90 if we both nail it he moves away at a slow walking pace.  I would not call it "leaving me in the dust".  But I do know as the speed gets higher his advantage grows.

Now my friends 1198S, looking from my handlebars, when it is time to go...he is gone, very impressive.

Would you trade your Monster for the 1098? I was toying with the idea of buying one but didn't want to pull the trigger till I got to ride a 1098 plus it had to be in red figured its about time to own a red Ducati.

not for my purposes. You have seen my bike right? :P

im a daily commuter and i like to go on long trips ever so often. im also 5'6.

BUT if my commute was never in city traffic, and it was straight backroads/highway + i never toured then yes, a million times yes! (now wheres my engagement o-ring?????).

But thats why my next duc is a toss up between the 848 SF or 1100 EVO (when they are around the 8g-9g range that is!)

i had them all 620, s2r, s4r. The 07 s4r is a 999 motor of a beast!!! that sh*t was scary fast/fun! not too fun in the city tho. grabby tight clutch.

i would hope that the 848SF would be the perfect in between...wetclutch with light lever pull, plenty of power, and comfortable seting position for in city jaunts and cutting traffic.

or is the 2v just too good at that?

I refuse to ride the SF1098....it will (I'm sure) make me sell/part out my S4Rt and buy it.  No point in owning the monster and the SF (IMHO)

Actually for mostly city jaunts and cutting traffic it'd be hard to beat a Hypermotard 1100.  If I never did any open freeway driving that would be my choice.  The SF848 is interesting but I dunno.  I'd really have to ride one first.  Just get a used SF1098.   [evil] [evil]   The prices should drop close enough, esp. in this economy and with another winter upon us.

1098 = too much power for street i think.

and the S2R1000 which is essentially teh same motor as the 1100, is like borderline not enough for the highway. when the pace picks up on the highway, my friends on sport bikes BLOW by me like theres no tomorrow. at 80mph, the bike is like already fighting to stay at 80mph 6th gear 4,500rpm. while they have like 10,000more RPM and 3 more gears.

You are arguing for and against yourself in the same breath.   ;D  [roll]

Trust me.  The 1098 SF is not too much for the street.  I know a 70 year old that rides one around plus another guy that's only just a bit younger that also rides one with a full Termi set up.  They both do pretty good.

My test ride was the one and only time I got on that thing.  It was amazing but more than I need because after all the crashes I've had I know this one would be bad.......they beg to be flogged.  It was fun but I'm getting older and like sitting more upright.
